What You’ll Do
As a Ramp Agent, you’ll play a crucial role in ensuring the safe and efficient turnaround of aircraft, delivering high-quality service to our customers and airline partners. You’ll be responsible for a range of ramp operations, including loading and unloading baggage, cargo, and mail, as well as operating ground service equipment and providing essential support services to aircraft on the ground.
You’ll need to thrive in a fast-paced, safety-critical environment, working collaboratively as part of a team to ensure every flight departs on time and to the highest standard. Previous experience in ground handling or within an aviation setting is desirable, but not essential. A full UK driving license is required, and you must be willing to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and shifts.
Shift Examples:
- Early Shift: 4am - 9am
- Late Shift: 5pm - 10pm
Part time: 20 hours per week. Overtime available following an initial training period.
ResponsibilitiesAircraft & Ramp Operations:
- Safely load and unload baggage, cargo, and mail from aircraft
- Operate a variety of Ground Support Equipment (GSE), including belt loaders, tugs, and high loaders
- Marshal aircraft to and from gates using correct procedures
- Carry out aircraft servicing tasks such as cabin cleaning, lavatory and water servicing
- Ensure safe and secure handling of all items and compliance with all regulations
- Maintain safety, punctuality, and performance standards across all ramp operations
Customer & Stakeholder Interaction:
- Deliver excellent service to airline partners and passengers
- Build effective working relationships with colleagues, airport authorities, and third-party stakeholders
- Attend and contribute to operational and safety briefings/meetings
Administrative & Support Duties:
- Support the Ground Handling team with general administrative tasks
- Assist in providing holiday or absence cover as needed
- Communicate effectively across teams to ensure seamless handovers and efficient workload management
- Maintain clear, professional communication at all times, considering cultural and language differences when engaging with customers or regulatory officials
Requirements
- Educated to GCSE level (or equivalent)
- Full UK driving license (essential)
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Strong team player with excellent interpersonal skills
- Able to work flexible hours, including weekends and shifts
- Reliable, enthusiastic, and committed to supporting team objectives
- Willingness to take initiative and support colleagues when required
Desirables
- Previous experience within an aviation environment is desirable, but not essential.
- Familiarity with ramp safety procedures and ground service equipment

Aviation Recruitment experts Optime are searching for Customer & Logistics Liaisons to join a well-respected and successful client in Stanstead Airport.
What's on offer
- Rate of pay: £12.70 per hour
- Shift Pattern: 4 on 4 off
- Shift timings: 5am to 5pm - Flexibility with timings is essential as these will be rotational
- Weekly Pay
- Temp to Perm (performance based)
Key Duties:
- Whilst manning the area the colleague is responsible for ensuring the area is safe and clear for passengers and employees of MAG, its partners and DHL.
- The colleague is to help coordinate the TL10 lift use. Ensuring Passenger safety and priority. The area is to be manned from 5am to 8pm and should not be left unattended.
- If a Passenger is waiting for the lift to become available then the TL10 colleagues are to assist in the communication to the PAX to ensure the safety by either asking them politely to wait or for a airport colleague to give way to the PAX.
- Report any safety issues to the WM and TL on shift at the time. In addition communicate with the Customer Liaison who can report via MAG app.
- Perform BBS safety conversations with DHL/MAG/Airport partners if either positive or unsafe behaviours are observed and recorded in logics.
- Help to direct Passenger away from stock and assist them with any navigational enquiries.
- Report any issues of non-conformance poor behaviour or conduct by anyone to the TL/WM immediately.
- Ensure designated fire equipment and exits are clear/free from obstruction.
- Ensure stock is being processed as quickly as possible to stock rooms and report any slow turn around or stock dwell within the delivery areas.
- When 2 Liaisons on shift 1 Liaison to man TL10 and 1 to inspect and report on other delivery areas these include SATS, Bay 1 and Landside. Expectation is that these areas are inspected, cleaned and any safety issues reported. Slow movement of deliveries to be reported and any fly tipping to be monitored, reported and labelled with penalty notice.
- Walkie Talkies must be carried whilst on shift.
- Additional duties maybe implemented
Requirements:
In addition the above we would prefer the applicant to possess some or nearly all of the below attributes:
- Possess a can-do attitude with a passion to fulfil outlined tasks
- Obtain a professional and courteous manor as communication is a key element of the role. Applicant will be expected to communicate with MAG/Passengers/DHL Colleagues.
- Be resilient and forward thinking with courage to feedback/implement any ideas
- We require a trustworthy and committed candidate as this role is high on the airports agenda, the area must be manned from 5am to 8pm. A streamlined routine card will be provided so candidates will know exactly what is required at each point.
