Role purpose:
The Nuclear Quality Officer role has been created to provide support for the Technical & Quality Governance team
at LRQA, reporting to the Technical & Quality Governance manager for Inspection
The role supports Technical & Quality activities on the nuclear new build projects, and involves a combination of
activities and training to encompass technical administrative functions, auditing, project work and support for
inspection activities.
The role requires attendance at LRQA’s Birmingham Office with some opportunity to work from home and travel to customers and other LRQA offices.
Key Responsibilities:
The Nuclear Quality Office is responsible for :
· Support the Technical & Quality Governance team involved with Nuclear projects
· Support Export Control Activities within LRQA, including information gathering for reports, supporting
local offices for applying for new licences and maintaining records of existing licences.
· Contribute to the project to update the Quality Management System
· Receive training and to participate in internal and external audits
· To pursue Continuing Professional Development and maintain a high degree of technical knowledge
and awareness.
· Monitor and review health and safety performance, observe safety behaviours in the workplace, taking
appropriate corrective and preventive action as necessary and suggesting and implementing
improvement activities.
· Continually seek opportunities to increase customer satisfaction and deepen client relationships.

This Graduate Scheme is a gateway to becoming an accredited Radiological Protection Engineer. Throughout their placements, past graduates have conducted radiation shielding assessments to ensure safe working environments and infrastructure design, worked with the Reactor Activation Model to predict and manage radiological hazards in reactor components, and developed and refined gamma spectrum analysis code to enhance the precision of radiological data interpretation. They have also performed detailed radiation dose modelling and calculations to support safety planning and regulatory compliance, built and managed a respirator management database to optimise protective equipment usage across sites, calibrated CZT detectors for accurate gamma radiation measurements in complex environments, and led comprehensive radiological risk assessments that inform policy, operational decisions, and emergency preparedness.
