Our client, a major player in the global energy sector, is seeking a highly experienced Senior Process Engineer to join their refining operations team in Reading, Berkshire, UK . This critical role will focus on optimizing and troubleshooting complex processes within oil and gas refineries. You will be responsible for developing and implementing process improvements to enhance efficiency, safety, and environmental performance, as well as providing technical expertise for major capital projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in chemical engineering or a related discipline, with at least 10 years of experience in process engineering within the downstream oil and gas industry. Proven expertise in process simulation, P&ID development, HAZOP studies, and troubleshooting of refining units (e.g., distillation, catalytic cracking, hydrotreating) is essential. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills are required, along with the ability to lead and mentor junior engineers. You will work closely with operations, maintenance, and project teams to ensure the optimal performance of refinery assets. - Analyzing and optimizing complex chemical processes within oil and gas refineries.
- Developing and implementing process improvements to increase yield, reduce costs, and enhance safety.

- Conducting and participating in Hazard and Operability (HAZOP) studies and risk assessments.

- Providing technical support to operations and maintenance teams.

This is a critical role focused on optimising and troubleshooting complex processes within oil and gas refining operations. You will leverage your extensive knowledge of chemical engineering principles, process simulation software, and operational best practices to enhance efficiency, ensure safety, and minimise environmental impact. As a remote employee, you will collaborate closely with on-site teams, engineering departments, and management across different geographical locations. Your responsibilities will include conducting detailed process analyses, developing and implementing process improvements, performing feasibility studies for new projects, and troubleshooting operational challenges. You will utilise advanced simulation tools (e.g., Aspen Plus, HYSYS) to model process behaviour, identify bottlenecks, and optimise operational parameters.
