Reliability Engineer - Drive Proactive Maintenance in a Thriving Environment

Cambridgeshire - Monday-Friday

Are you ready to transform the way maintenance is managed? This is a rare opportunity to step into a newly created Reliability Engineer role - one that's central to a broader shift from reactive breakdowns to data-led, proactive maintenance.

Working for a long-established food manufacturer known for its strong team culture and low staff turnover, you'll play a key role in shaping the future of their engineering strategy.

Why This Role?

  • Hands-On Experience - Develop valuable skills across admin, budgeting, supplier management, and maintenance coordination.
  • Supportive Team Environment - Join a collaborative, people-first team that values proactive thinking and problem-solving.
  • Varied & Engaging Work - No two days are the same. Expect a blend of technical, logistical, and improvement-focused tasks.
  • Job Stability & Benefits - Work for a stable, people-focused company with long-term career prospects and a strong rewards package.

Salary & Benefits

While the initial salary is benchmarked around shift engineer level, the value of this role is recognised - and there's a conversation to be had for the right person. In addition, you'll benefit from:

  • Salary - Competitive and up for discussion
  • Annual Bonus - Based on company performance
  • Health Cash Plan (Level 1) & 24/7 GP Access (Dr Line)
  • Life Assurance - 4x annual salary
  • Company Sick Pay - Up to 8 weeks
  • Enhanced Maternity/Paternity Pay
  • Free EV Charging
  • Buy Holiday Scheme - Up to 5 additional days
  • Reward Gateway - Full employee discount scheme
  • Pension - 4% employer match

What You'll Be Doing

This full-time, Monday-to-Friday role is all about system optimisation and engineering insight. You'll be:

  • Enhancing and developing the current maintenance management system (Shire Pirana)
  • Leading criticality assessments and tracking Mean Time Between Failure (MTBF)
  • Analysing breakdown data to optimise Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM)
  • Collaborating with TPM and FMEA teams to embed smarter practices
  • Working closely with stores admin to ensure critical spares availability
  • Championing a shift from reactive to preventative maintenance thinking across the team

Who We're Looking For

You'll come from an engineering background and ideally have hands-on maintenance experience - but this role isn't about fixing machines. It's about building a smarter, more reliable operation.

You'll stand out if you:

  • Have experience with Shire Pirana or similar maintenance/CMMS platforms (Excel-based systems also welcome)
  • Are confident interpreting engineering data and influencing shop floor behaviour
  • Have a keen eye for process improvement and a passion for continuous development

Ready to Build Something Bigger Than Yourself?

This role isn't just about maintenance - it's about creating long-term reliability and being part of a supportive team that's building a better way of working.
