Your opportunity
+ The candidate will need significant experience with the primary focus of the role being on asset allocation research within the Multi-Asset team, working with colleagues to develop well-considered investment views for implementation by the portfolio managers
+ There may be some additional responsibilities for further supporting the team's portfolio managers in a range of areas, particularly in communicating investment views to clients. The team manages an array of funds, model portfolio services and advisory accounts with varying risk tolerances and methods of implementation
+ The candidate will need a strong interest in financial markets and economics, and have the flexibility to research a range of different asset classes within the team's frameworks
+ The candidate should have the immediate ability to contribute effectively within a collegiate environment but with an ability to research independently and contribute to the improvement of investment frameworks
+ You will be required to conduct research into a range of asset classes, including equities, fixed income, currencies and commodities, considering both macroeconomic and market-based factors in line with the team's approach, and also to improve analytical frameworks used for making both tactical and strategic asset allocation decisions
+ You will be expected to generate investment views for potential implementation in client mandates in support of the portfolio managers, in areas such as regional equity tilts, credit rating preferences and currency hedging decisions
+ Communication of investment views and the broader macroeconomic and market backdrop to internal stakeholders, clients and the press will also be a key component of the role. This will include producing and presenting research for the multi-asset team's weekly and monthly asset allocation research and markets update meetings
+ You will produce written content for communication to both clients and the press on market and economic topics and events, and produce performance and market commentaries for client reports across a range of mandates
+ You may also be asked to help with both regular and ad hoc day-to-day tasks involved in the management of client mandates, such as generating performance reports and writing commentaries

Must have skills
+ A deep interest in the markets and macroeconomic research process involving independent, autonomous analysis to arrive at relevant investment implications - please note this is not a portfolio management role
+ A strong drive to push beyond the first level in trying to understand what is driving markets day-to-day - you will be expected to work with a reasonable degree of independence and to problem solve effectively
+ Experience in constructing econometric models
+ Experience in researching either equity markets or fixed income and currencies from a top-down, asset allocation perspective
+ The flexibility to cover the whole breadth of asset classes (equities, fixed income, currencies & commodities) - the team operate as generalists, and each member is expected to provide challenge across the full spectrum of asset classes covered

The role…
We are looking for a Senior Research Analyst, to work in a close-knit group of analysts based in Oxford who are charged with meeting the needs of our clients in the global sugar sector.
The role involves undertaking detailed economic, quantitative, market analysis and research assignments. These include forecasting supply and demand, price outlook, policy analysis, performance/cost of production benchmarking as well as carrying out bespoke consulting projects for our clients. Examples of these projects include feasibility studies, price outlooks in specific markets or market segments, and policy analysis.

- Carrying out analysis and forecasts underpinning the weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual services of the sugar research team. li>Tracking and forecasting sugar supply, demand, price and policy developments in the sugar sector in key geographies.

What you will do
As a Research Analyst , you will be part of our research team, supporting the creation and delivery of research outputs across multiple projects through conducting high-quality desk-based secondary research, and summarising and analysing your findings. You will be part of project teams providing industry, market and product level research to consulting colleagues.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Secondary research – Developing expert-level understanding on therapeutic areas through identifying and accessing relevant data sources for insights on changes to the competitive landscape.
- Content development – Analysing gathered research to prepare time-sensitive notifications on major and relevant events within the target landscape and develop PowerPoint decks covering key findings.
- Primary research support – Establishing baseline knowledge of the key intelligence topic to support the development of primary research guides and questions.

About the team you'll be a part of
The Strategy and Research group brings the outside in to Ofcom. With teams that lead on our research, market intelligence, international, public policy and strategy work, the group brings together colleagues across the organisation to establish Ofcom’s overarching strategy, drawing on our deep understanding of the external context domestically and internationally alongside insights from our research and analysis of the sectors we regulate. It supports the wider organisation - helping to make sure we have a strong evidence base in order to prioritise our work and make decisions which will help make communications work for everyone.
The Public Policy and Nations teams within SRG engage with external policy-makers and parliamentarians across the UK to explain Ofcom’s work and approach, and how we are helping to tackle some of the biggest public policy challenges facing the UK. The work is fast-paced and varied with high-performing teams operating in a highly agile environment.
The purpose and scope of the role
The Public Policy Director is an ambassador for Ofcom with key public policy stakeholders, building relationships and acting as a spokesperson for the organisation. You will work closely with SRG management and the Senior Management Team (SMT) and advise the Board to ensure Ofcom is positioned effectively in relevant debates across the UK. You will lead forty colleagues working in the Public Policy and Nations Teams, attracting and retaining the best talent, and ensuring that they have the support they need, empowering your direct reports to lead on public policy across all areas of Ofcom’s remit for the whole of the UK.
Your Key Responsibilities
Act as an ambassador for Ofcom, building productive relationships with external stakeholders, including Government and Parliament. Represent Ofcom in high-profile settings, including Select Committee evidence sessions.
Support colleagues across the UK in stakeholder engagement to help deliver Ofcom’s strategic objectives.
As a member of the Senior Management Team (SMT), contribute to strategic decision-making and work closely with the Chief Executive and Chair.
Lead, motivate and develop around 40 colleagues across 4 teams, providing direction, leadership and support, while working closely with Nations Directors and Public Policy Principals, role modelling empowerment.
Work in partnership with the Communications Director to support the Chief Executive, members of SMT, the Board and Ofcom’s Chair in all aspects of public policy.
Maintain and develop excellent internal relationships across the organisation, ensuring that our response to the complex challenges we face draws on specialist expertise and a diversity of perspectives, and promoting the work of the public policy and nations teams to enhance its impact.
Use sound judgment and knowledge of the political and sector environment to identify and manage risks to Ofcom’s work in close collaboration with SMT colleagues.
As a member of the Strategy and Research Leadership Team actively contribute to the leadership of the Group by fostering a culture of learning, and consistently role modelling Ofcom’s values of Excellence, Agility, Collaboration, Empowerment and Respect.
Work across the Group and wider Ofcom to build and attract talent to the organisation, supporting Ofcom’s diversity and inclusion strategy.
The skills, knowledge and experience you'll need for success
Strong leadership and management skills, with a proven ability to deliver high-profile and potentially contentious projects, resolve complex policy issues, coach teams, and work collaboratively across internal and external stakeholders
Ability to demonstrate competence across the Success Profile for Directors at Ofcom
Excellent interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to build trusted relationships, influence and persuade stakeholders at all levels internally and externally
Experience of working in Government with a broad understanding of developments across Ofcom’s sectors and relevant Government policy.
Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to act as a spokesperson, and explain complex arguments clearly and persuasively to a range of audiences.
Ability to build a strong evidence base to support recommendations and evaluate outcomes.
Evidence of the ability to act with sensitivity and discretion.

+ Collaborate with other research product teams, including Litigation, Policy, Credit and ESG for company specific and thematic analysis.

+ Work with Global Data teams to ensure data completeness and quality control for existing and new data sets of target companies
+ Build and maintain relationships with internal departments and external market professionals to grow a franchise and develop an ecosystem
**You'll need to have:**
+ 3-5 years experience in Equity Research, specializing in Financials companies in Europe
+ Sell-side or buy-side Research Analysis experience preferred.
+ Detailed knowledge of the Financials sector in Europe
+ Experience interpreting financial statements and performing quantitative financial analysis
+ Knowledge of advanced concepts, practices, and procedures of finance and accounting
+ Strong primary research and writing skills
+ Good oral communication and presentation skills
+ Self-starter, independent thinker and collaborative team player
+ Strong organizational skills and capable of handling multiple projects
+ Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
**We'd love to see:**
