About the role

We have a brand-new opportunity for an Associate or Senior Associate to join our Science and Research team in our London office. You can be mechanically or electrically biased .


It's an exciting time to join our Science and Research team . We have a proven track record working within the sector delivering projects ranging from speculative commercial laboratory fit-outs for large developers to working with higher education and institutional end-users at the forefront of industry research. Working alongside a range of specialist engineers and consultants, you will be joining a collaborative, knowledgeable, highly engaged team who love what they do, and offer a supportive, flexible, and high performing work culture.


The role has three strands: project leadership, team leadership, and work winning. Strengthening our leadership in these three areas is a key need in our succession plan and will lead to further career opportunities.


In this key and varied role, you can expect to:

  • Be responsible for the day-to-day technical delivery of the electrical or mechanical design services for multi-disciplinary projects across the Science and Research sectors.
  • Lead the development of initial strategic concepts for projects ensuring solutions are appropriate for the brief and regulatory standards.
  • Interact regularly with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring a communicative, collaborative and timely approach to delivery This is a client-facing role, so you will be attending project meetings and disseminating / translating the brief within the project team.
  • Work with the team leader to help monitor fee expenditure, resources and work delivered.
  • Mentor and support our ‘next gen’ professionals, including apprentices and graduates.

To be successful in this role you’ll need:

  • Proven experience working as an Associate or Senior Associate Engineer or in a closely related role, with a track record delivering on a variety of complex projects.
  • Experience of modern technical delivery processes, and use of relevant software/tools such as BIM, Revit, Electrical OM, Dialux and Relux.
  • Demonstrable experience working with clients/contractors / architects in a design-oriented / consultant role.
  • Self-awareness, an open mind, and a spirit of generosity.
  • Experience in supporting others to develop knowledge, skills, and confidence.

About the role:

The post-holder will have a key role in facilitating research management and governance processes required under the UK Policy Framework for Health and Social Care Research and relevant legislation. They will be the first point of contact for R&D enquiries and work within the R&D team to deliver a first-class advisory and support service to researchers.

Experience in working in NHS R&D or a university research support role is desirable but not essential, as support and training will be provided to the post-holder to develop their role.
