Specific Skills

Accountability
To attend customer locations as advised by controller, to carry out preventive maintenance servicing. To liaise with service controller and customer both at the outset and as work progresses. To ensure that all work is carried out to high standards and that equipment is safe before handing back to customer. Ensure equipment is serviced in line with manufacturers recommendations and that all associated paperwork is completed accurately and in a timely manner including recording customer signatures. Take proper care of company vehicle and equipment.
Education and Experience
Either direct experience (around 3 years) or working in a related engineering function, e.g. car mechanic, HGV fitter, Agricultural Engineer former REME or experience on military vehicles such as recovery mechanic or a formal apprenticeship qualification that includes at least C&G level 1, formal training in health & Safety desirable but not essential as further training will be given.

Overview:
A leading defence aerospace organisation is seeking four skilled contractors to join its Role Equipment Bay team. These positions are critical to the maintenance and readiness of survival and role-specific aircraft equipment, supporting operational delivery in a high-tempo environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Service chemical oxygen generators in line with OEM and regulatory standards
- Inspect, repack, and maintain life vests and survival equipment
- Input accurate data into maintenance systems and technical records
- Apply corrosion prevention compounds to relevant components
- Conduct daily servicing of Class 3 role equipment
- Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and procedural standards
- Support continuous improvement and maintain 6S workplace standards
Essential Criteria:
- Proven experience in servicing survival and/or role equipment
- Ability to interpret technical publications and follow regulated maintenance practices
- Competence in using digital tools and maintenance data systems
- High attention to detail and ability to work independently or within a team
Desirable Experience:
- Background in defence aerospace or military MRO environments
- Familiarity with A400M or similar military transport platforms
- Understanding of human factors, FOD prevention, and tool control
- Data input experience
- Maintenance within the aerospace/aviation/defence sectors
Security Requirements:
- Must have the right to work in the UK
- Ability to obtain BPSS clearance

As part of the Protein Diagnostics (PDX) group, you will be working within The Binding Site, a global leader in speciality diagnostics. We provide innovative diagnostic assays and instruments that improve the diagnosis and management of blood cancers and immune system disorders.
Collaborate with teams on equipment technology and process improvement, applying technical expertise to meet Quality, Delivery, and Cost Improvement targets, ensuring Health & Safety compliance.
**A Day in the Life**
In the role, your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
+ Assisting in the set up and shut down of all equipment within all operational departments, enabling the daily production plan meets set requirements.
+ Performing first-line fault finding on equipment when issues arise, ensuring controlled and timely resumption of manufacturing.
+ Assisting with validation/engineering activities to support improvements within all manufacturing department areas.
+ Accurately ensuring the completion of all required documentation in line with regulatory requirements.
+ Collaborating with department management teams to identify and support areas of improvement within their equipment purview.
+ Involvement in the maintenance and calibration of equipment within the purview of Production Engineering, following detailed procedures and timelines.
+ Supporting the definition of new equipment to support the continued operation and expansion of the company.
**Keys To Success**
**Education**
+ A Levels, Advanced apprenticeship (Level 3) or equivalent experience in Mechanical, Electrical Engineering.
+ BSI/IET Wiring Regulations, preferably 18th Edition.
Experience
+ Previous experience within a highly regulated Quality System Environment, preferably in the IVD medical devices or similar industry.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
+ Good interpersonal and communication skills to effectively collaborate with colleagues and external suppliers.
+ Knowledgeable in multiple industries preferably within the FMCG, Pharma, or Medical Device industries.
Physical Requirements / Work Environment
