Salary:- 30,000 to 40,000 plus bonus scheme
Hours: Monday to Friday 9.00 am - 5.30 pm
Overview
Our client is seeking a full me RICS qualified Rural Chartered Surveyor with ideally at least 2 years PQE but will consider recently qualified. The successful candidate will take a leading role on existing and new projects, whilst working with the other members of the Rural Team, to develop and promote the services offered by our client. Registered Valuer and FAAV preferred, but not essential.
The Role
This role is to support an expanding Rural Department in all aspects of professional work including, but not limited to:-
- Diversification and Planning
- Estate and Property Management
- Valuations, Taxation and Succession planning
- Landlord and Tenant, preparation of Farm Business Tenancies, Grazing Licences and Contract Farming Agreements
- Advising clients on Agri-environmental Schemes and Grants
- Land and Property Sales, and Acquisitions
- Utility and Infrastructure Compensation Claims
- Renewable energy
Key Requirements:-
- RICS qualified Rural Chartered Surveyor with ideally, at least, 2 years PQE
- Registered Valuer and FAAV, preferred, but not essential
- Be commercially astute, understanding the importance of business targets and their impact to the practice
- Commit to providing an excellent standard of client care
- Be IT literate, with experience of using a web-based case management system
- Pro-active and business minded
- Be able to communicate effectively, both in writing and verbally
- Full driving licence and access to own vehicle
- Strong organisational skills
- Ability to work well on your own and as part of a Team
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Packages.

The role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Estates Manager to join the Ramsbury Estate. The role will support the Senior Estate Management team in all aspects of the smooth running of this large mixed rural estate. The successful applicant will have a well-rounded knowledge and interest in agricultural, residential and commercial property, with excellent communication skills and the ability to work well as part of a team.
The Estate
The Ramsbury Estate, comprises approximately 19,000 acres across North East Wiltshire, West Berkshire and North Hampshire of which some 7,000 acres are farmed in-hand, 2,500 acres are managed woodland, and about 9,500 acres are let on FBT and AHA farm tenancies. The residential property portfolio comprises over 110 houses and we have a diverse commercial property portfolio.
What you'll be doing
As part of the team, you will be based at the Estate Offices near Ramsbury and will be supporting the senior managers to provide insightful advice, excellent client care and outstanding stakeholder management to help deliver best practice across our property portfolio.
Requirements
· Oversight of the management of tenants to include sourcing suitable tenants and ensuring that the necessary compliance checks are completed and that the tenancies run smoothly
· Ensuring that the Landlords statutory obligations are met across the let Estate – including but not limited to EICR testing, boiler servicing, EPC, smoke/CO2 alarms, property checks and surveys
· Carrying out routine property inspections and assisting with the recording, scheduling and co-ordination of repair and maintenance working closely with the Maintenance Manager in delivering best practice and compliance with CDM Regulations and ensuring 3 rd party compliance
· Overseeing smaller development projects to include the submission of planning applications and gaining of any necessary consents
· Dealing with Leases, Licences and other Landlord and Tenant matters
· Ensuring Health & Safety compliance and best practice is implemented and followed
· Maintain accurate records for all Lettings using our property management software and filing system
· Input into the annual budgets and management accounts
· Assisting the Estates Manager with general Estate Management matters
Person Specification
The successful candidate will have the following attributes:
- Be MRICS/FAAV qualified
- 3 – 5 years in a similar position
- Have practical knowledge and experience of rural land and property management, with a detailed understanding of all types of residential, commercial and agricultural tenancies
- Have a good working knowledge of legislation and policy affecting rural land and property management
- Have good organisational and technical skills to implement efficient and effective management and to respond to wide ranging challenges with diplomacy and care
- Willing to take responsibility and ownership for tasks
- Be a team player with excellent interpersonal skills and to act with integrity and professionalism in all that they do
- Be computer literate in all MS office programs
- Have a full clean UK drivers licence due to this role requiring regular travel often at short notice across the estate
Package
The Ramsbury Estate will offer a competitive package commensurate with the candidate’s experience:
