I am currently seeking a Permanent Safety Advisor to work with a UK Contractor on a Civils project in Birmingham .
This role would include but not be limited to the below
- Promote H&S culture throughout the business
- Ensuring H&S Policies and Processes are updated where required
- Provide H&S advice and guidance to Site Teams
- Ensure all plant and equipment used is compliant with H&S regulations
- Complete detailed site safety audits and action recommendations
- Ensure Method statements and Risk Assessments are issued (where required)
- Assist with Pre-qualification questionnaires
- Attend site walks at tender stage (where required)
The Ideal Candidate will have
- Experience as a Safety Advisor, SHE, HSE, HSEQ or similar
- CSCS, NEBOSH, IOSH
- Previous experience working within Civils, Groundworks, Water Pumps, Water
- Comprehensive knowledge of all aspects of health, safety and risk management, and of all current health and safety legislation.

Your mission
Develop a close working relationship with the construction team, client, supply chain and other stakeholders to ensure effective communication between all parties on Health, Safety and Wellbeing (H,S & W) matters
Supporting the development, implementation and maintenance of the H,S & W management system in line with the contractual requirements and ISO 45001
Liaise with external bodies where required on H,S & W matters
Actively involved with ensuring that H,S & W risks are identified and mitigated from conceptual design through to the construction phase and beyond, with a strong emphasis on designing out H,S & W risks
Willing and able to lead on H,S & W strategies and champion a positive organisational cultural approach to world class H,S & W performance
To support the communication and understanding of all H,S & W plans, policies, procedures and initiatives throughout the supply chain
To ensure that H,S & W performance is monitored and measured in line with the clients contractual requirements, including trend analysis
To promote the company vision and values in all dealings with employees, client, supply chain and other external contacts
Carry out high quality inspections and audits that go beyond just addressing compliance and, in addition, identify both barriers and opportunities for improved operational performance
Monitor close-out of H&S inspections and audits within prescribed timescales
To lead and/or participate in accident investigations, ensuring that all investigations are robust with all findings clearly evidenced by the data and supporting meaningful remedial actions
Have a thorough understanding of incident investigation models and methodologies
Attend and contribute to collaborative meetings, forums and workshops
Who are we looking for?
Previous experience working as an H&S Advisor on infrastructure projects would be desirable; however, anyone with practicing Health and Safety experience will be considered.
NEBOSH National General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety, or equivalentnThorough knowledge of OHSAS 45001 standards
Valid membership of IOSH
Able to deliver internal health and safety management courses
Able to advise on health and safety issues on a day to day basis on site
Able to conduct standard accident investigations on host site
Able to write site inspection reports and audit reports

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and supporting the Health and Safety processes, procedures and systems within the business, as well as providing guidance and support on health, safety and environmental issues across the business.
Duties involved in this role will include:
* Act as Health & Safety "Competent Person", acting as the 'go to' person for H&S advice and assistance across the business
* Leading on development of a positive H&S culture
