The Role:
We are seeking Submarine Safety Consultants to join the growing teams. This role focuses on supporting the Defence Nuclear Enterprise , providing expert safety consultancy and developing services across key customer accounts.

Key Qualifications & Experience
Essential:
- Prior experience in a consultancy environment
- Experience supporting the UK Submarine programme
- Strong knowledge of regulations and standards, including:
- Defence Safety Authority (DSA)
- Defence Nuclear Safety Regulations
- Naval Authority Certification
- Proven ability in developing safety artefacts, including HAZID facilitation, risk assessments, and safety case development
- Demonstrated success in delivering complex technical projects or multiple concurrent projects
- Highly Desirable:
- Nuclear SQEP
- Experience with hazard and risk analysis techniques (SWIFT, HAZOP, FMECA, FTA, LOPA)
- Experience as an Independent Safety Auditor/Advisor
- Strong client relationship development, securing ongoing workstreams
- Degree-qualified
- Chartered Engineer (or working towards), or member of a relevant professional institution
Skills;- Professional, adaptable, and able to integrate quickly into a flexible team
- Strong communication skills, with excellent written English and technical accuracy
- Highly organised with the ability to manage workload independently, including remote working
- Ability to gain UK security clearance (mandatory due to project requirements)

As a Nuclear Safety Consultant, you will be involved in a variety of specialist tasks. This could include:
* Delivering consultancy that meets, and exceeds the expectations of the client, in regard to technical excellence, the quality of deliverables, timescales and cost, in a way that supports the long-term growth of the business and its reputation.
* Providing nuclear safety advice, guidance and deliverables for multi discipline projects.
* Actively participating in the integrated design process and interfacing with engineers and human factors specialists.
* Developing and present robust and reasoned arguments in a rational and coherent manner.
* Represent the Company on technical matters to clients/external stakeholders.
* Provide technical checking & verification for technical / compliance / thoroughness of argument / QA standards.
* Liaising with all concerned on technical progress.
* Identifying opportunities with clients and supporting, mentoring, coaching and helping others to develop within the business.
Ideal qualifications
Skills Required:
* Ability to confidently liaise with external stakeholders and team members, both oral and written.
* Ability to independently seek out or develop one's own answer to challenging technical questions.
* Ability to organise one's own time and the time of others to ensure internal / external deadlines are achieved and Client expectations are exceeded.
Qualifications and experience
* Minimum of 2 years professional engineering/technical specialist experience.
* Have a degree or equivalent in engineering, science or related field of study.
* Basic understanding of the safety case production process and methodologies.
* Familiarity with areas such as decommissioning, optioneering, best practice, human factors, radioactive materials transport, licensing, radioactive waste.
The successful candidate must, by the start of the employment, have permission to work in the UK, and be willing to obtain SC clearance.

Key Responsibilities Include:
- Implement client projects and programmes with high-level advocacy
- Designing management reports and predictive analytics for clients.
- Create customer success by managing and reviewing a highly configurable digital software enterprise platform.
- Undertake gap analysis of processes for improvement and better management of our clients systems.
- Identify and implement client initiatives and new ways of working.
- Prepare and document technical requirements, proposals, schedules and client interactions.
- Preparation of scopes and methodologies including liaison with technical team and the clients.
- Respond to technical concerns and problems, ensuring smooth implementation and ongoing management.
- Communicate with clients and internal teams to explain technical matters, products and implementation schedules, and take briefs as required.
- Adopting the role of Trusted Advisor so that our clients have confidence, resilience, and can thrive
- Providing decision support to clients: strategically as well as on day-to-day matters
- Creating compelling presentations to communicate ideas, plans, reporting tools and software user journeys
- Working with the software support team to achieve clients operational and strategic goals
- Stay up to date with new capabilities, features and product launches and provide valuable product feedback to management.
You will have:
- Qualifications in H&S and fire safety, including membership of a recognised industry body e.g, CMIOSH or MIIRSM or working towards (minimum Cert IOSH)
- A strategic and goal-orientated mindset with the ability to lead, engage and manage client accounts and delivery programmes
- An ability to convey information and simplify it for clients
- An ability to learn new topics quickly
- A passion to succeed, and a love of winning
- Drive to build successful client portfolios and deliver the Gold Standard of service and solutions
- At least 5 years’ experience in a client-facing role that included advising clients on their health, safety, and fire safety objectives on a programme level, helping them to make the right decisions and supporting them with execution
- 2 years’ experience in an in-house role would be advantageous "to walk in a client's shoes"
- Experience with taking a requirement and preparing a proposal through to brief across complex assignments
