- Has the initiative to work on your own or as part of a team
- Able to speak confidently to others (and groups), participating in a range of meetings and delivering presentations.

A Health & Safety Officer is needed in a Roman Catholic Sixth Form College in South West London.
This Health & Safety Officer position will be part time (21 hours a week) and long term.
As a Health & Safety Officer, you will be responsible for Health & Safety, UK GDPR Compliance, sustainability and policy oversight at the college.
If appointed as a Health & Safety Officer, you will manage and implement policies to maintain a safe learning environment, safeguard data privacy and ensure data protection regulations are adhered to at all times.
The team is looking for a Health & Safety Officer with strong administrative skills, proficiency in the use of data with keen attention to detail, excellent communication skills to effectively interact with staff and students and the ability to manage confidential information with due diligence.
Experience in a similar role within post-16 education is advantageous but is not essential when being considered for this Health & Safety Officer post.

They are recruiting now for a Health & Safety Officer to carry out Safe Systems of Work (SSOW) duties. The SSOW Officer will be liaising with third party contractors and the in-house engineering team to enable visits, collate and review all relevant SSOW documentation, to prepare permits and specific job packs for works in accordance with company and client policies and procedures.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Liaise with engineering team to enable visits of third-party contractors in accordance with the Planning Team schedule.
- Reviewing site inductions are relevant and/or valid for specific visiting third party contractors.
- Review relevant RAMS in a timely manner before scheduled site visit.
- Validate all necessary information is provided for permits and RAMS.
- Issue, monitor and sign off closure of permits to work in accordance with site procedure.

This is a multi-site role, as the Company's Competent Person the job holder will internally take the lead on all matters Health and Safety with the support of our external Health & Safety Consultant, ensuring work- place safety and compliance with health and safety regulations, and promoting a positive safety culture.

Primary Responsibilities / Key Accountabilities of the Health & Safety Officer:
Risk assessments
Conducting thorough risk assessments to identify potential hazards and implementing appropriate control measures including but not limited to performing reviews.
Contractor management
Ensuring contractors meet the company's and HSE's standards for routine maintenance and or projects, mitigating risks and promoting safety, this will include reviewing RAMS, issuing and closing out permit to work.
Incident and accident management
Recording and thoroughly investigating any event that deviates from normal business operations including near misses, accidents, incidents and other safety or security concerns.

Training and awareness

COSHH management

Providing internal KPI reporting for management.
Reporting on any non-compliances in relation to any of the ISO standards and relevant legislation and regulations.
Monitoring and health surveillance
Managing the process and third parties for monitoring exposure levels and health surveillances.
This will include identifying business needs, number and type of assessments required communicating schedules to departmental managers reviewing reports and implementing corrective actions and control measures.
Personal protective equipment (PPE)
Managing company PPE ensuring the distribution of authorised PPE, monitoring internal user checks, organising third party inspections, and ensuring employees are trained on the safe use of any PPE issued to them and the reporting of any defects.
Continuous improvement
Working with the wider team to develop a continuous improvement plan that focuses on enhancing business processes that eliminate inefficiencies, reduces health and safety risks and promotes zero harm in the workplace.
Standard operating procedures (SOPs)
Working with managers, team leaders, employees supporting the delivery of and reviews of standard operating procedures, ensuring they remain current and relevant at all times, including and not limited to providing the wider team.
Administration
Upkeep of internal registers that capture information pertaining to compliance records, employee PPE, COSHH assessments, COSHH register, MSDS etc. and disseminating as required. Carrying out other administrative tasks in a timely manner.
