- Location: Norwich, Norfolk.
- Basic Salary: up to 30,000 p.a. (depending on experience).
- Annual Profit Share.
- Monday to Friday 8.00am to 5.00pm (1 hour lunch).
- Contract: Full Time, Permanent.
Our client is a market-leading Test Equipment supplier, known for being the premier league in their sector, they are looking for a target-driven Business Development Sales Executive to join their team in Norwich.
The role will be telephone based, selling a wide range of technology test equipment products to trade and industry sourced from leading manufacturers and their in-house calibration and repair services, reawakening old clients and generating new ones. They have a broad customer base ranging from small local 'one-man-band' electricians to large multi-national mechanical and electrical companies.
You'll be joining a dynamic technology industry that is competitive, social, and successful. The Company believes their people are their greatest and most valuable asset!
The Role:
- Re-engaging a portfolio of 800+ current accounts - most have used the service in the past year, but there's plenty of opportunity to win more back.
- Working with warm B2B leads to re-ignite interest and build long-term relationships.
- Handling new business development, identifying fresh opportunities and opening doors with potential customers.
- Following standard operating procedures and being fully compliant with company processes, attention to detail is key.
- Navigating gatekeepers with ease, using your natural charm and chatty personality to get to decision-makers.
Candidate Requirements:
- Previous experience in B2B sales or business development would be ideal.
- Someone who is proactive, personable and not afraid to pick up the phone.
- Confident communicator who's able to build rapport quickly and keep customers engaged.
- Comfortable working within a technical/engineering sector - they don't need to be an expert, but they'll need to be keen to learn.
- A structured and process-led mindset - someone who understands the importance of compliance and procedures.
Upon joining, you will have full training on their product range, and your journey will be fully supported and guided in your role by a Senior Manager.

Job Purpose:
To build and maintain strong relationships with both existing and potential company clients, understanding their needs and requirements, and then providing tailored solutions when required. To generate new business opportunities (focusing on ocean freight primarily, but not excluding road, airfreight, and customs clearance services) targeting both import and export clients. The role focuses on achieving agreed sales targets, enhancing customer satisfaction, and ultimately contributing to overall business growth. The role predominantly requires field-based client engagement, but collaboration face to face with internal teams will be required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Identify and develop new business opportunities with both import and exporting companies.
- Generate leads and cold calls with prospective customers.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships to understand customer needs and propose suitable freight solutions.
- Prepare and deliver sales presentations, proposals, and quotations to clients.
- Negotiate rates and contracts in line with company pricing structures and margin expectations.
- Work closely with the Sales Manager and other commercial team members, along with the operations/customer service teams to ensure a premier customer service experience.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, competitor activity, and market conditions.
- Meet and exceed individual and team sales targets.
- Maintain accurate records of sales activity and customer information using CRM systems.
- When required attend industry events, networking opportunities, and trade shows where appropriate.
Key Requirements:
Experience:
- Minimum 5 years of sales experience in freight forwarding (preferably in Northern Ireland and focusing on ocean freight (FCL/LCL).
- Proven track record in business development and achieving sales targets.
- Additional experience in air freight, road freight and customs procedures will be an advantage but not essential.
Skills & Competencies:
- Strong knowledge of freight forwarding operations and documentation.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong negotiation and closing skills.
- Self-motivated, target-driven, and able to work independently.
- Competent in the Microsoft Office Suite & CRM Software.
- Ability to handle pressure and manage multiple priorities.
- Valid UK/NI driver's license.
- Be flexible in working out in the field and in the office if required.
