Maths Circles Teacher – Primary Schools (Years 2–3)

Location: London (school-based)

Hours: Mondays, 3:40pm – 4:40pm (with potential for additional sessions)

Start Date: Monday 22nd September

Contract Type: Part-time / Hourly

About Maths Circles

Maths Circles is a unique programme designed to nurture mathematical curiosity in young children. Instead of following the national curriculum, we introduce exciting, challenging concepts that encourage children to think broadly, reason creatively, and develop a genuine love for mathematics. Sessions are delivered in small groups (6–8 pupils) in a fun and supportive environment where making mistakes is part of the learning journey.

The Role

We are looking for a passionate and enthusiastic Maths Circles Teacher to run sessions for children in Year 2 and Year 3. This is not a traditional tutoring role – it's about sparking joy in problem-solving, stretching mathematical thinking, and helping children explore maths beyond the classroom.

You will:

  • Teach weekly sessions to a small group of 6–8 pupils.
  • Deliver challenging mathematical material (resources and guidance will be provided).
  • Create a positive, fun classroom atmosphere that encourages curiosity and resilience.
  • Liaise with the school and a parent contact regarding safeguarding and communication.

Requirements

  • A genuine passion for mathematics and primary education.
  • Experience working with or teaching young children (Year 2/3 preferred).
  • Strong communication and classroom management skills.
  • A valid DBS certificate (required).
  • Reliability and enthusiasm for inspiring children through maths.

Desirable

  • Experience teaching in a primary school setting.
  • Knowledge of enrichment-style maths or problem-solving approaches.

What We Offer

  • Training and support with lesson materials.
  • An opportunity to make a meaningful difference in children's mathematical journeys.
  • A small, supportive class environment where creativity and fun are encouraged.

Start Date: Monday 22nd September, 3:40–4:40pm.

Further opportunities may be available depending on your availability and the growth of the programme.
