As the Lead Installation Engineer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the reliability and performance of critical infrastructure and industrial processes. You will work closely with project managers, clients, and other engineering disciplines to deliver robust SCADA solutions. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical acumen, excellent problem-solving skills, and a meticulous approach to system installation and testing. A background in industrial control systems, electrical engineering, or a related field is essential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and execute the installation of SCADA hardware, including PLCs, HMIs, communication devices, and networking equipment.
- Configure and commission SCADA software platforms (e.g., Ignition, Wonderware, WinCC) according to project specifications.
- Install and terminate control system wiring and cabling, ensuring compliance with electrical codes and industry standards.
- Develop and execute test plans for SCADA system functionality, data acquisition, and alarm management.
- Troubleshoot and resolve hardware and software issues during the installation and commissioning phases.
- Collaborate with clients to understand their requirements and provide on-site technical support and training.
- Manage installation project timelines and resources effectively, ensuring timely completion of milestones.
- Ensure all installations adhere to safety regulations and company best practices.
- Create and maintain detailed installation documentation, including wiring diagrams, configuration guides, and test reports.
- Liaise with the engineering and project management teams to provide feedback on system design and performance.
- Support the ongoing maintenance and upgrades of installed SCADA systems.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior installation engineers.
- HND or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Industrial Automation, Mechatronics, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in the installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting of SCADA systems.
- Proficiency with major SCADA software packages and protocols (e.g., Modbus, OPC UA).
- Strong understanding of PLCs, HMIs, industrial networking (TCP/IP, Ethernet/IP), and control system architecture.
- Experience with electrical installation, wiring, and safety standards.
- Excellent diagnostic and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with clients and diverse teams.
- Ability to travel extensively to client sites as required.
- Familiarity with industrial automation hardware and instrumentation.
- Proven ability to work independently and manage multiple installation projects concurrently.
- Valid UK driving license.
