  • Maintain and monitor the school's attendance records and produce returns and report as necessary
  • Monitor and maintain an accurate computer record of pupil attendance
  • Monitor the late arrival of pupils and maintain an accurate and up to date computer and paper-based records and files
  • Advise and assist parents/carers to maintain regular school attendance of their children;
  • Communicate clearly to parents/carers the attendance procedures and expectations of the school;
  • Collect and analyse attendance data to enable identification and tracking of pupil attendance;
  • Input daily attendance data onto the SIMS management system;
  • Run reports for termly attendance and write certificates

Requirements

  • Excellent Interpersonal and Communication Skills - Written and Oral.
  • Knowledge and understanding of child protection and safeguarding practices and protocols
  • Excellent Organisation Skills with a systematic approach to workload management.
  • Excellent time management, planning and work prioritisation skills.
  • Experience of developing systems and processes.
  • Excellent understanding of Sims.
  • Ability to work within allocated budgets and monitor expenditure and costs.
  • Full working knowledge of relevant policies/codes of practice/legislation.
  • Ability to plan and develop systems.
  • Ability to relate well to children and adults.
  • Work constructively as part of a team, understanding school roles and responsibilities and your own position within these.
  • Ability to self-evaluate learning needs and actively seek learning opportunities.
  • Confidentiality of information as appropriate.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Ability to work on own initiative.

The successful candidate will be required to complete an enhanced DBS Check, cost of which will be met by Polaris Education.

About the role:

Monday to Friday, 8am - 4pm

£14-17 per hour depending on experience


As a School Administrator/ Receptionist, you'll have experience in assisting the school office manager or similar with the day to day running of a busy office.

You will be responsible for looking after all forms of admin task, from answering the telephone to scanning, printing, filing, uploading documents to a digital system, dealing with parent and pupil liaison and much more.

This is a lovely but very fast paced role, which will require an individual to possess strong organisational skills and be calm and able to work under pressure, as school offices can quite often be hectic!

Key responsibilities can include but are not limited to:

  • Day-to-day tasks, such as printing, scanning, filing, answering inbound queries, making outbound queries, parent liaison, safeguarding concerns, medical issues, and more.
  • Ensuring that admin tasks and paperwork are completed efficiently and effectively, whilst maintaining a high quality of work.
  • Liaising with both parents, carers, teachers and other school staff throughout the school day.
  • Dealing with sensitive information and paperwork, sometimes relating to children and safeguarding or welfare issues.
  • Ensuring school systems are up to date and information is uploaded to school systems accurately, including at times the use of systems such as SIMS, Bromcom, or ARBOR.
  • Take responsibility for ordering equipment for the office staff as and when this is required in order for them to complete their roles.
  • Answering the telephone and responding to parents via email as well as stepping in to complete ad-hoc tasks as and when the needs of the school require you to.

About you:

  • Experience working within a school environment
  • Must have experience using SIMS, Arbor, BROMCOM or similar
  • A valid DBS on the DBS update service
  • Experience of monitoring and logging attendance
