Science Technician – Full-time (Term-time plus two weeks)
We are seeking a motivated and well-organised Science Technician (Physics) to join our thriving Science Department. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a genuine interest in Physics and a practical, hands-on approach to play a key role in supporting the delivery of outstanding science teaching.
As a Science Technician (Physics), you will support teaching staff by preparing and maintaining practical resources and equipment for lessons. You will ensure that all apparatus is ready for use, carry out routine maintenance, and help maintain a safe, efficient, and inspiring learning environment for our students.
The successful candidate will have strong practical and organisational skills, good communication and IT abilities, and a proactive approach to their work. Experience in a technical or educational environment would be an advantage, but an enthusiasm for Physics and a willingness to learn are equally important. A sound understanding of safe working practices and the ability to manage workload calmly and efficiently are essential.

About You
We are seeking to appoint an energetic, resourceful and flexible individual to undertake this key role as first point of contact for the school. The person appointed to this post will need excellent people skills, a good level of ICT, and an ability to manage their own workload. 
You will have responsibility for the co-ordination, provision and development of a support services to the Science Department. You will prepare the use of practical resources and facilities and provide assistance and advice in the practical needs of the Science curriculum, at Key Stages 3, 4 and 5, including liaising with teaching staff and support staff in and outside the department to support effective learning.

Role Specific
- Be responsible for the preparation and maintenance of resources, whilst ensuring that all Health and Safety regulations are adhered to.
- Design, prepare and maintain specialist equipment /resources as required by staff/curriculum/ lesson plans, and assist others in their use including within lessons.
- Be responsible and ensure the creation and maintenance of a clean and orderly working environment.
- Be responsible for keeping and updating records as agreed with Head of Curriculum and subject teachers
- Promote and ensure the Health and Safety, and good behaviour of students at all times.
- Assist in the development of lesson/work plans, administration of coursework, worksheets etc.
- Operate the relevant equipment, including in a safe and appropriate manner.
- Ensure orderly and secure storage of relevant equipment and premises at all times.
- Be responsible for the provision/ ordering of stock and equipment. Ensure correct and up to date stock lists of equipment and materials. In addition, supervision of the requisite Health and Safety checks.
- Checking for damage and vandalism on a daily basis undertaking relevant repairs or arranging for attention as required.
- To develop positive relationships with students and staff to assist student progress and attainment.
- To assist in student supervision and the management of behaviour, and in providing a purposeful, orderly and supportive environment for learning.
- To undertake classroom administrative tasks including the maintenance of records.
- Administer tests and assist in the invigilation of exams.
