THE ROLE:
This highly regarded firm is looking for a senior solicitor to join its specialist Life Sciences team to provide advice to a broad range of commercial clients and academic, medical, and governmental institutions. The role will involve working closely with the head of department to advise on clinical trial arrangements, IP licensing and protection, partnering transactions, research collaborations, promotional arrangements, regulatory issues within the life sciences sector, data protection, commercial contracts, and due diligence for corporate and commercial transactions.
THE CANDIDATE:
The successful candidate will have a minimum of 5 years’ PQE gained from a leading law firm or in-house environment, with a strong background in life sciences, solid technical expertise, and a commercially minded approach. You should have excellent interpersonal skills, the ability to build strong client relationships, and the capability to collaborate effectively with both the team and other departments.

- Member of a chartered institute e.g., RICS or happy to work towards
- Good knowledge of construction industry themes such as MMC, Net Zero Carbon and Digital agenda
- Good knowledge of the full project lifecycle and business case approvals process
- Ideally experience of working on science based projects in complex live environments
What experience we are looking for:
- Detailed knowledge of and experience in the delivery of life sciences projects circa 5 years.
- Experience of strategic estate development and capital project planning for business case redaction is desirable.
- Detailed experience of NEC contract administration is desirable
- Demonstrable experience in client-facing roles at all levels (including Directors of Estates/Strategy and Planning/Capital Development) to develop stakeholder relationships and drive project progression.

Rutherford is partnered with a leading global law firm with a highly regarded Life Sciences practice. The firm is seeking a Corporate Life Sciences Lawyer (2–6 PQE) to join its London team, advising on complex corporate transactions for growth-stage biotech, pharmaceutical, and medtech companies, as well as private equity and venture capital investors.
You’ll work with a collaborative, experienced team on cross-border deals throughout Europe, covering a broad range of transactions, including buyouts, carve-outs, add-ons, public-to-privates, joint ventures, minority stakes, structured and growth equity arrangements, and special situations.
The team also provides advice on senior executive matters, management incentive plans, and corporate governance.
Key responsibilities
- Advise on and manage complex corporate transactions for life sciences clients, including private equity and venture-backed companies.
- Structure, negotiate, and execute a broad range of deals across the technology, healthcare, and life sciences sectors.
- Support cross-border transactions and collaborate with teams across multiple jurisdictions.
- Provide guidance on management incentive plans, governance matters, and strategic investments.
- Build trusted relationships with clients by delivering pragmatic, commercially focused advice.
- Work closely with partners to support growth initiatives and complex deal execution.
