Role Details:
To support procurement activities, starting from identifying needs, drafting NEC4 contract scope documentation, all the way to awarding contracts, by working closely with the Project Manager and Commercial teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Proactively coordinate and collate NEC4 contract scope document inputs from other specialists.
- Author sections of NEC4 contract scope documentation in support of procurement events.
- Peer review of contract scope documentation prepared by others.
- Review of supplier tender proposals against issued scope documentation.
- Chair team meetings to support development of scope documentation.
- Input into project pipeline to ensure activities are undertaken in a timely manner to support delivery activities.
- Manage internal and external stakeholder engagement.
- Coordinate and manage requirements to ensure scope alignment with programme objectives.
- Ensure all activities are compliant with project governance and procurement frameworks.
Key Requirements:
Essential -
- Minimum five years in contract or project management roles.
- In-depth experience with NEC4 contracts and Scope structuring.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, effective in both team settings and independent work.
- Attention to detail and clarity in conveying complex information.
- Highly organised, deadline-focused team coordination.
Desirable -
- Experience in nuclear or similarly regulated sectors.

We are seeking a proactive engineering, project management or commercial professional to lead on the production of NEC4 contract scope documentation. In addition to authoring sections of the scope documents, this role will coordinate, review and collate input from the other specialists in the Client team including engineering, quality, information management and project controls.
Working within the Project Management function, the Scope Author will work with the Project Manager and Commercial Departments to support procurement events from identification of a need, through to contract award to a successful supplier.
The role requires strong stakeholder management and coordination of multidisciplinary inputs, ensuring alignment with MoD governance parameters and alternate procurement strategies. Whilst the primary focus will be on development of the scope documentation, the individual will also contribute to programme development and supplier proposal reviews.
Experience Required
Experience in a related role with regular involvement in contract management - either pre- or post-contract stages. This experience could be gained from project management, technical or commercial roles.
Experience preparing or implementing a range of forms of NEC4 contracts, with strong knowledge of how Scope packages are constructed.
Proven stakeholder management skills, with the ability to coordinate and align multidisciplinary inputs across engineering, commercial, and project controls functions.
Location
The role is hybrid where 3 days per week will be spent either in the office in Glasgow City Centre or at site in Helensburgh.

- Work closely with MPS to ensure project requirements are achievable and Barrow deliveries are aligned to tree schedules;

- Provide regular progress updates to stakeholders.
- Support the SAP Part Extension Process with maintenance of Sales View in material master.

The Opportunity
This 12-month placement offers a starting salary of £24,500 and the chance to work at our #Heysham 2 Power Station in Lancashire. You’ll be part of our Outage Planning department, gaining hands-on experience in a site-based role.
You’ll contribute to real-world projects and learn from experienced professionals. Supporting project managers with planning, scheduling and commercial aspects – this placement offers a springboard into a career in energy.
You’ll apply your academic knowledge to genuine industry challenges and develop skills that will set you apart.
What You’ll Be Doing
During your Project Planning Industrial Placement, you’ll gain practical experience in a professional environment. Past students have supported front-end engineering, investigated progress management techniques for large programmes, and contributed to technical analysis and justification work.
You’ll be guided by skilled mentors and work alongside teams who are passionate about delivering safe, efficient and impactful projects. This placement will help you build confidence, broaden your understanding of the energy sector, and grow your career.
Your Work Location
This is a site-based placement located at #Heysham 2 Power Station in Lancashire. You’ll be part of a close-knit team working on-site, gaining valuable exposure to operational environments and project delivery.
Who You Are
To be eligible for this EDF industrial placement, you need to be on track to achieve or have already achieved a 2:2 undergraduate degree or 2:2 postgraduate qualification in Project Management.
