Job Description
Network Security Engineer - Global Tech Operations
Location: Basingstoke (Hybrid - 3 days per week on-site)
Salary: 50,000-55,000 + excellent benefits
Join a business undergoing transformation, where you'll have the opportunity to shape how security and networking are delivered across a global, high-integrity environment. This is a great opportunity for an experienced Network Engineer with a strong troubleshooting mindset and a growing interest in cybersecurity tools and processes.
This isn't a rinse-and-repeat support desk role. You'll work on critical infrastructure, be trusted with important decisions, and have the chance to grow in both technical breadth and depth. With a new leadership team in place and investment in tooling underway, it's a great time to join.
What you'll be doing
You'll be supporting and improving complex networks and core infrastructure systems across a secure production environment. Day to day, you'll be configuring switches and firewalls, monitoring performance, investigating issues at network and transport layers, and helping maintain and evolve the organisation's security stack-including Defender XDR, SentinelOne, and iBoss. You'll work closely with infrastructure and security colleagues to help cross-train and provide joined-up support.
What you'll bring
- Strong hands-on experience with switching, firewalls, VPNs and WAN/LAN/WLAN support
- Knowledge of routing protocols (e.g., OSPF, BGP, RIP) and QoS techniques
- Experience with Cisco or HP networking tech (CLI preferred), plus Check Point or similar firewalls
- Familiarity with tools such as Microsoft Defender XDR, Sentinel, iBoss, Cisco ISE or Secure Access
- Awareness of vulnerability management, threat prevention, and SOC tooling
- Ability to investigate and troubleshoot under pressure with a methodical, root-cause approach
- Previous experience in an ITIL-aligned environment
Why this role?
- Be part of a newly integrated team where you'll gain exposure to both networking and security
- Work with a fantastic line manager and a team that values mutual learning
- Enjoy a varied, hands-on role with real autonomy-where your ideas for improvement will be heard
- Help support a transformation as the business invests in tooling, process and capability
