What You’ll Do
  • Work directly with the CEO and Head of Product to scale Jupiter’s marketplace

  • Own key backend systems end-to-end, from design to deployment

  • Deploy and monitor backend services in cloud environments (GCP) using Docker, Kubernetes, and Terraform

  • Take product requirements (we use Linear) and turn them into technical solutions

  • Design and implement backend services using Kotlin, Micronaut, and Spring frameworks

  • Create RESTful APIs to expose backend services to frontend applications and third-party integrations

  • Design and optimize relational (PostgreSQL) and NoSQL (Elasticsearch) databases

  • Implement background jobs and event-driven architectures using RabbitMQ

  • Write and maintain unit, integration, and end-to-end tests

You Might Be a Fit If You…
  • 4+ years of backend development experience, focusing on JVM languages (Kotlin preferred but Java works too if you’re willing to switch to Kotlin)

  • Are proficient in backend frameworks like Micronaut or Spring

  • Have experience with relational (PostgreSQL) and NoSQL (Elasticsearch) databases

  • Possess a solid understanding of object-oriented, functional, and reactive programming paradigms

The Role
We are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to join our Algo & MLOps team. In this pivotal role, you will drive the implementation of cloud infrastructure and services enabling the research, training and productionisation of advanced ML models powering our email threat detection and data loss prevention products. Your day-to-day

What you bring to the team
- Several years of industry experience working on distributed systems and building high-scale applications in a managed cloud environment (AWS/Azure/GCP)
- Strong Python knowledge; experience developing and deploying production-grade software using asyncio
- Hands-on experience with at least one Infrastructure-As-Code framework
- Strong understanding of engineering and infrastructure best practices and general software development principles
- Excellent communication abilities, ability to engage both technical and business audiences alike, and experience leading cross-functional projects
Good to have:
- Hands-on experience designing and building software and infra components powering at-scale ML predictions, such as feature engineering/storage solutions, model training/monitoring and ML inference services
- Proficiency in creating and optimizing high-throughput ETL/ELT pipelines using a Big Data processing engine such as DataBricks Workflows, Spark, Flink, Dask, dbt or similar
- Experience building software and/or data pipelines in the AWS cloud (SageMaker Endpoints, ECS/EKS, EMR, Glue)
