The Blockchain & Climate Institute (BCI) is an international volunteer-led think tank supporting and advocating the application of blockchain technology in the global fight against climate change.

We are looking for a creative and innovative VOLUNTEER Graphic Designer who is keen to play a progressive role in the climate action community through the use of design creatives. In a voluntary unpaid role (as with all roles in BCI), the Communications Officer - Graphic Designer will support the delivery of the BCI Communications Strategy in a visual manner. With a strong eye for visual communications, the ideal candidate should have a passion for generating interesting content.

The Communications Officer - Graphic Designer will support both BCI internal and external projects, working with the wider Communications Officer Grade colleagues.

This role is part of the Communications Officer Grade sitting in the Communications Branch under the External Affairs Bureau.

Responsibilities:

  • To support the implementation of the BCI Communications strategy;
  • To raise the profile of BCI among relevant audiences, both within and outside the climate change policy community;
  • To conceptualize visuals based on storytelling requirements for various communications activities including public relations, social media, website, newsletters, and audio-visual materials;
  • To create engaging and on-brand graphics for a variety of media;
  • To support BCI external and internal events including major industry events such as COP27.

Requirements

Education & Training

  • A relevant degree or experience in Graphic Design.

Relevant Experience

  • Proven relevant position in an organization;
  • Experience working in a target-driven role;
  • A portfolio of strong visual communications work;
  • Experience working independently and with teams to drive forward projects using one's own initiative.

Skills & Abilities

  • A wide degree of creativity and a good grasp of storytelling;
  • Proven understanding of communication channels (e.g. media outlets, social media);
  • Demonstrated flexibility;
  • Strong attention to detail;
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to balance competing demands under pressure.

General & Specialist Knowledge

The Blockchain & Climate Institute (BCI) is an international volunteer-led think tank supporting and advocating the application of blockchain technology in the global fight against climate change.

We are looking to recruit a couple of highly motivated and enthusiastic VOLUNTEERS serving as Web Designers or Developers . Working with IT Support Officers and other Web Developers, you will also be given exposure to our projects on blockchain, artificial intelligence, and other emerging digital technologies under development.

The ideal candidates will be responsible for providing frontline web support for the BCI. As part of the Technology Officer Grade, the Web Developers will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining BCI's new website. The successful candidates will also be required to test new products, run regular maintenance checks, and keep abreast with information security issues.

Responsibilities:

  • Writing code in one or more programming or scripting languages, such as PHP or JavaScript;
  • Planning and prototyping new applications;
  • Designing the architecture of the components of an application;
  • Deciding on the best technologies and languages for the project;
  • Testing sites and applications in different browsers and environments;
  • Problem-solving by fixing bugs in existing projects;
  • Testing new features thoroughly to ensure they perform the correct task in all cases;
  • Running performance benchmarking tests;
  • Reviewing colleagues' code;
  • Building and testing Application Program Interfaces (APIs) for applications to exchange data;
  • Researching and incorporating Open Source projects;

Requirements

Skills and abilities

  • Technical knowledge in areas such as client-side components, server-side languages, web application frameworks, and database management systems;
  • Experience with version control systems, and a thorough understanding of the architecture of web applications and web security and encryption;
  • Attention to detail;
  • A logical approach to problem-solving;
  • The ability to work independently and in mixed teams;
  • Experience with development methodologies (such as Agile and Waterfall);
  • The ability to manage a complex range of tasks and meet deadlines;
  • Good communication skills. Fluent in English.

Education & Training

A degree in one of the following subjects:

  • Computer science;
  • Software engineering;
  • Web design and development;
  • Informatics.

Adapt Amazon assets for different partner channels, including Amazonu2019s biggest marketing priorities globally and regionally, to reflect unique customer journey stages and levels of awareness to drive intended action.

Develop versatile, easy-to-use templates that partners can customize for their specific content needs across various marketing channels.

Support strategic partner campaign needs, ensuring an understanding of the partner, their goals and brand/design requirements.

Work with technical and marketing product teams to implement automation in design processes, and apply toward template/design approach for maximum scalability and partner self-serve design.

Monitor, analyze and optimize partner-used designs, and recommend/manage creative and a/b testing opportunities routinely

Support internal and external partner event needs such as presentations, pitch decks, signage and collateral.

- Understanding of scalable design systems, automation tools and processes

- Ability to communicate effectively to leadership and managing multiple projects and meeting aggressive deadlines

- Experience working cross-functionally with research, product and marketing to ensure customer-relevant creative executions
