Job Description
Our Client is a leading Accounting and Advisory firm based in Douglas and are seeking a Director (UK Private Client Tax) to join their expanding team at a time of significant growth.
As Director in the UK Private Client Tax team, you will be working with High Net Worth Individuals and business owners across UK and Ireland to address their various UK tax issues. You will demonstrate sufficient technical knowledge to develop solutions to complex technical issues and manage a team to deliver to clients on a day to day basis.
Main responsibilities:
- Manage client assignments that are sizable in both scope and scale by providing intelligent and creative solutions to client tax issues both reactively and proactively and present solutions to increasingly complex technical issues
- Proactively seek out business development opportunities
- Participate fully in new client pitch situations
- Advise on relevant IHT planning steps that clients should consider including the use of UK Trusts, capturing Business Property Relief and corporate reorganisations
- Write high quality tax reports, professionally presented documents, requiring minimal input from directors or partners
- Ensure bills are raised and costs are collected on a timely basis and manage work in progress to ensure recoverability targets can be met
- Demonstrate sound technical knowledge to supervise relevant areas of work and will be seen as a reference point on particular technical issues
- Work effectively with all members of the team, providing coaching and mentoring to build the confidence and respect of peers and subordinates
- Demonstrate a clear appetite for self-development through the appraisal and personal development plan processes, reviewing work afterward for learning points
The ideal candidate for the role of Director (UK Private Client Tax) will be:
- ACA/ACCA and/or CTA qualified
- Minimum 7 years' post qualified experience of working in a tax department of a firm which provides tax advisory services
- Strong technical knowledge and proven ability to identify opportunities for clients
- Experience of dealing with the "Wealthy" team (formerly the High Net Worth Unit) of HM Revenue and Customs
- Approachable and respected member of the team who takes a proactive interest in the team's performance and wellbeing
- Capable of working on your own initiative while taking responsibility and ownership for wider team issues
- Able to build trusted relationships with clients and the team
- Managerial skills with the ability to manage compliance process and compliance staff
- Strong interpersonal skills are essential together with proven people development skills to support the development of the more junior staff
- Ambitious and desire to pursue a career in practice

Your impact as a Director:
Acts as the primary point of contact within the broking team for specific clients to provide specialist advice to the client and client team
Provides advice to clients and colleagues on placement design, available coverage and capacity, pricing, potential coverage enhancements and market progress within scope of responsibility

Our Client is a leading Accounting and Advisory firm based in Douglas and are seeking a Director (UK Private Client Tax) to join their expanding team at a time of significant growth.
As Director in the UK Private Client Tax team, you will be working with High Net Worth Individuals and business owners across UK and Ireland to address their various UK tax issues. You will demonstrate sufficient technical knowledge to develop solutions to complex technical issues and manage a team to deliver to clients on a day to day basis.
Main responsibilities:
- Manage client assignments that are sizable in both scope and scale by providing intelligent and creative solutions to client tax issues both reactively and proactively and present solutions to increasingly complex technical issues
- Proactively seek out business development opportunities
- Participate fully in new client pitch situations
- Advise on relevant IHT planning steps that clients should consider including the use of UK Trusts, capturing Business Property Relief and corporate reorganisations
- Write high quality tax reports, professionally presented documents, requiring minimal input from directors or partners
- Ensure bills are raised and costs are collected on a timely basis and manage work in progress to ensure recoverability targets can be met
- Demonstrate sound technical knowledge to supervise relevant areas of work and will be seen as a reference point on particular technical issues

The ideal candidate for the role of Director (UK Private Client Tax) will be:
- ACA/ACCA and/or CTA qualified
- Minimum 7 years' post qualified experience of working in a tax department of a firm which provides tax advisory services
- Strong technical knowledge and proven ability to identify opportunities for clients
- Experience of dealing with the "Wealthy" team (formerly the High Net Worth Unit) of HM Revenue and Customs
- Approachable and respected member of the team who takes a proactive interest in the team's performance and wellbeing
- Capable of working on your own initiative while taking responsibility and ownership for wider team issues
- Able to build trusted relationships with clients and the team
- Managerial skills with the ability to manage compliance process and compliance staff
- Strong interpersonal skills are essential together with proven people development skills to support the development of the more junior staff

What we do Our projects are delivered with the support of specific, non-industry aligned Practice expertise, which includes: Applications, Infrastructure & Security Modernization (including: Enterprise Architecture; Cloud & Technology Modernization (AWS, Azure, GCP); CyberSecurity & Resilience; DevSecOps; Program Assurance) The business is building for growth and we are looking to expand our capabilities at Associate Director or Director level. What you need We’re currently looking to find an experienced Enterprise Architect (EA) or Business Architect who can help support our most important clients across all industry sectors: We seek candidates with the following skills: Experience managing relationships with C-Suite (e.g. CIOs, CDOs, CTOs etc), ideally gained from within an IT Consulting business; Substantial hands-on Enterprise Architecture experience and qualifications (TOGAF, BCS etc); Experience of Infrastructure, Cloud and Application Modernization; and Artificial Intelligence (A.I.) would be preferable; Strong communication skills (including devising and presenting compelling proposals), executive presence, strategic thinking skills, prioritization, and problem-solving ability Experience with software engineering practices, automation, and design, and cloud native architectures In return you will be leading a growing world-class team of experts, helping to develop a practice within a growing organisation with huge career growth opportunities.
