Venatu Recruitment are proud to be assisting a leading client in their search for a new Document Controller! They're a bespoke door manufacturer based in Downham Market, specialising in the design and production of high-quality, certified doorsets. Their extensive range of fully accredited doorsets and ironmongery is supplied pre-assembled and ready for installation.

Due to continued growth and expansion, they're seeking a Document Controller to support the Technical Manager in maintaining product certification, resolving technical compliance queries, and managing key technical processes. The role involves close coordination with internal departments, suppliers, certification providers and customers, ensuring that our certified product offer remains robust, traceable, and aligned to market needs.

This is a permanent, full-time position offering a salary of £30,000–£40,000 per year, depending on experience. Standard working hours are 7:30am to 5:00pm, Monday to Friday, with a 45-minute lunch break. Working hours can be discussed further at the initial interview.

Key Respon

 Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and update certification records, liaising with providers such as BM Trada, IFC, and Warrington Fire
  • Respond to internal and external technical queries relating to our products’ compliance
  • Conduct internal audits and assist in resolving non-conformances (NCRs)
  • Assist in delivering internal training sessions around compliance, testing, or standards
  • Maintain accurate compliance data within the ERP system, including ongoing improvement and development of ERP processes to support compliance and technical accuracy
  • Process doorsets for certification or audit, project managing the activities effectively
  • Track and maintain the technical budget
  • Collaborate closely with the R&D team on companywide projects for new product and process development
  • Work with both Supply Chain and R&D to introduce new products and suppliers, seeking opportunities for cost savings and improved market offerings
  • Support the specification sales team by preparing documentation, and attending CPD demonstrations or architect briefings where required.

The type of candidate they're looking for has:

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a technical, quality, or compliance support role within construction, manufacturing, or fire safety sectors
  • Familiarity with UK certification schemes for fire doors preferred (e.g. EN1634-1, BD476)
  • Experience managing technical documentation, audit records, and compliance processes
  • Experience working within a fast-paced environment and under pressure
  • Proactive approach to problem-solving and supporting continuous improvement
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy with strong analytical skills
  • Strong organisational skills, with ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively

JOB PURPOSE

  • Oversee the management of all document control requirements for the construction side of the business
  • Being responsible for the standardization and implementation of correct document control practices on all construction projects.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Take a leading role in refining the standard company procedures with regards to all aspects of document controlling.
