We’re seeking a Senior Engineer - Charging Systems & HV Harnessing to join our rapidly growing team. Reporting to our Engineering Manager – Powertrain Products , you will be responsible for leading the development, delivery, integration and validation of High Voltage charging systems and HV Harnessing into high volume vehicles. Working alongside power electronics and test and validation engineers among others, the role will be responsible for ensuring that our vehicles remain compatible and are protected against current and future charging standards.

This pivotal role will operate in a hybrid capacity from our offices near Leamington Spa. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work alongside some of the most visionary minds in the automotive field.

What you’ll do

·    Specification, project management, integration and validation of charging interfaces on Forseven battery electric vehicles.

·    Delivery ownership and execution of Charge Inlets and High Voltage Harnessing along with supplier management and planning.

·    Perform the role of in-house expert for these systems and alongside the subject matter expert, document and maintain a development roadmap with focus on features related to weight, efficiency, performance and integration with the charging infrastructure and associated systems. 

·    Work with stakeholders, within and external to Forseven, in order to identify solutions, projects and milestones that will contribute to the success of the vehicle programme.

·    Manage technical deliverables, project plans and open issues decks for assigned systems to support on time delivery to the vehicle programme.

·    Specification and development oversight of design features and functions in conjunction with our technical partners and Tier 1 suppliers. Support other function groups to ensure compliance with process driven development methods.

·    Participation in system review, verification & validation activities including leading FMEAs, DVP planning and ISO26262 compliance.

Who you are

·    Possession of a Mechanical, Control Systems, Automotive or similar honours engineering degree.

·    Significant experience of HV Electronics or component delivery within an automotive engineering environment. 

·    Demonstrable understanding of High Voltage Electrical architectures and underlying principles and technologies including thermal management, lifetime operation, control strategies and current capacity versus weight saving.

·    Experience of project engineering with Tier 1 suppliers, preparation of project documentation and reports.  Risk management, mitigation and recovery planning.

·    Ability to communicate the requirements of the vehicle programme to a supplier and manage the cost/benefit/compromise when adapting and enhancing existing and new technologies.

·    Articulate, self-motivated, and able to work well on own initiative.

·    Full driving licence is essential.

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Electromagnetic Transients (EMT) Studies Expert to join our high-performing Power Systems Consulting team. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in analysing and improving the transient performance of power systems, ensuring the stability, reliability, and resilience of electrical grids. This individual will provide expert-level insights into the integration of renewable energy sources, HVDC systems, and FACTS devices, and will conduct detailed simulations and assessments to support critical operational and planning decisions.
The types of work delivered within the Power Systems Simulation team currently include:
+ Model and simulate the performance of **renewable energy** sources (e.g., wind, solar) and **converter-based systems** (e.g., HVDC, STATCOM, SVC) including their control systems to assess their impact on the grid.
+ Develop models for **EMT simulations** based on real-world data and equipment specifications, ensuring accurate representation of grid components.
+ Conduct **EMT simulations** for power systems using **PSCAD** to analyse system behaviour under transient conditions.
+ Perform detailed **electromagnetic transient studies,** such as switching and fault studies, equipment energisation, TRV/ZMP studies, insulation coordination studies and others with the aim evaluate the system's transient response and complement equipment design.
+ Analyse **voltage transients** , **switching overvoltages** , and **lightning surges** , providing recommendations for equipment protection and system improvements.
+ Lead or participate in **grid compliance** studies (especially EMT), ensuring that generation and transmission projects meet regulatory and technical standards.
**What we will be looking for you to demonstrate:**
+ Previous experience in **grid integration** of **renewables** , **battery energy storage systems (BESS)** , and **smart grid technologies** .
+ Knowledge of national grid codes and standards (e.g., **Grid Code,** **ENTSO-E** , **NERC** , **CIGRE** ).
+ Knowledge of **grid-forming** technology and the different control architectures and implementations.
