- A good understanding of factors that can affect the real-world performance of sensing systems and how these can impact the accuracy and timeliness of measurements in order to meet challenging design objectives and requirements
- Demonstrates understanding and experience of Systems Engineering which could include knowledge of Systems Engineering standards (e.g., ISO 15288)

The Radar Systems Engineering team:
You will be working as a Principal Systems Engineer within our close-knit multi-function radar team of inter-disciplinary engineers, evolving our radar portfolio of existing and brand-new radar products to address emerging and future threats.

Their product is innovative, sustainable, and scalable — offering a zero-carbon alternative to fossil fuel boilers for industrial users.

The Role This is a hands-on senior design role leading Caldera’s electrical capability. You’ll take ownership of power system design for thermal storage units, typically operating at 400 V AC / 2 MW scale , and help develop these into fully engineered, field-ready products.
You’ll lead the specification and design of the electrical architecture — working across power distribution, protection, control integration and component selection — and contribute across the full development lifecycle.
As well as hands-on technical delivery, you’ll also mentor junior engineers, manage suppliers, and guide external partners on design execution. You’ll have two direct reports:
- A CAD Designer supporting site integration layouts
- A Site Commissioning & Installation Engineer who supports field delivery
What We’re Looking For
- A strong background in electrical engineering , ideally with experience in power systems , plant equipment , or complex product development
- Proven leadership experience at a senior or principal level , including mentoring and managing subcontractors
- Practical design expertise, with the ability to translate engineering intent into real-world solutions
- Experience in HVAC , renewables , process equipment , or electrical systems for plant would be highly transferable
- Ability to read, challenge, and contribute to electrical and multidisciplinary designs from first principles
