Contract Length: 12 Months
Location: Hybrid, 60% LEEDS office only
Job Type: Inside Ir35 Contract
Clearance: An SC clearance must in place before starting this position.
About the role
As a performance tester you will play a key role in ensuring the quality, stability, and performance of digital services for the client. This role will focus on planning, defining, and executing testing activities across a range of functional and non-functional requirements. Working within a risk-based testing approach, the postholder will contribute to automation frameworks, improve testing practices, and support delivery teams in identifying and resolving defects that could impact business-critical services.
Key Responsibilities
- Undertake test planning activities including discovery capture, test definition, and estimation of test effort.
- Design and execute a wide range of functional and non-functional testing techniques.
- Identify, raise awareness of, and assess risks arising from automation test results.
- Implement and improve test frameworks to build confidence in delivery outcomes.
- Collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders to communicate test results and recommendations.
- Lead investigative work into issues and opportunities in existing processes, driving improvements.
- Make informed decisions on test environments and tools, ensuring suitability for project needs.
- Identify defects, report findings to the business, and help prioritise them based on severity and impact.
- Mentor and advise other team members on testing practices, tools, and frameworks.
Skills & Experience
Essential:
- Proficiency in Typescript and test automation frameworks.
- Strong experience in functional and non-functional testing techniques.
- Ability to critically evaluate results and communicate findings clearly to diverse audiences.
- Demonstrated experience in identifying and prioritising defects in complex systems.
- Knowledge of a variety of testing tools, environments, and methodologies.
- Creative problem-solving skills, with the ability to ask the right questions and challenge assumptions.
- Experience leading investigative work into process improvements.
Desirable:
- Experience in public sector or large-scale digital transformation projects.
- Familiarity with Agile delivery methods and DevOps practices.
- Knowledge of risk-based testing approaches.
