Qualified Social Worker - Adults Social Care Team
We are looking to recruit a Qualified Social Worker for the Adults Social Care Service in Devon County Councils within the Social Care industry. The Qualified Social Worker vacancy in Devon will be for an initial 3-6 months with potential for extension subject to internal circumstance and your performance.
Responsibilities include:
- The work will encompass completing Community Deprivation of Liberty Assessments, Care Act Assessments, reviews, commissioning care, safeguarding work, CHC work, undertaking Mental Capacity Act assessments and Best Interest decisions.
- This work is required to support teams with an increase in workload, to reduce wait times and respond in a timely way to mitigate risks.
- To understand, maintain and apply a strengths-based approach to all practice. For example, by promoting independence and personalisation to ensure service users can assess and manage their own needs, risks and uncertainties and meet their identified short and long term goals.
- To identify community and other natural sources of support, maximising individuals' assets using preventative/universal services and other funding sources.
- To be responsible for the identification of potential enablement or reablement opportunities and provide access to these as necessary.
- To identify and ensure an integrated agency and multi professional approach is used where appropriate to ensure that adults continue to live independent lives and maximise their choice and control.
- To undertake assessments using a range of health and social care tools such as contributing to continuing healthcare assessments.
- To have an understanding and apply the requirements of the Mental Health Act when assessing a person's care and support needs, for example, Section 117
- To effectively apply the Mental Capacity Act to practice, including the application of principles, use of the two-stage test and Best Interest checklist.
- To undertake safeguarding enquiries and plan action to ensure that adults at risk of abuse or neglect are safeguarded, in accordance with statutory and local guidance, which will include undertaking enquiries where there may be institutional or 'whole service' abuse.
- To undertake such enquiries as are required to complete application to the Court of Protection for authorisation of a deprivation of liberty in the community.
Experience preferred:
- Post qualifying experience of working as a Qualified Social Worker - The Social Worker will be supporting vulnerable adults from a range of backgrounds and needs
Minimum Requirements:
- SWE Registration
- 1-2 years post qualifying experience within the UK Social Care industry
- Enhanced DBS/CRB (we can obtain for you)
- Eligibility to work in the UK
