We’re seeking Project Managers to work across our capital programme, small works and refurbishment projects.
You’ll contribute to the university’s £1.2billion capital programme running over the next 15 years, with the potential to lead a variety of construction and refurbishment projects across accommodation, high tech laboratories, faculty buildings and restaurants.
Capital Works Project ManagerThis role offers an outstanding opportunity to lead vital upcoming projects with budgets up to £00 million each across our diverse estate, from our original accommodation and facilities through to new campus upgrades.
In this role, you will lead the delivery of multiple, simultaneous complex projects within our diverse estate environment. This involves close liaison with clients to manage external assessments, design management, contract management, contractor management on-site, strategic procurement, and project handovers.
You’ll take ownership from day one, through to the completion and occupation of buildings.
Small Works and Refurbishments Project ManagerWithin this role, you’ll work on a varied set of projects from small (e.g. lighting, carpets, painting) to large-scale maintenance, such as lab installations (e.g. lab gases, benching, power/data for specialist equipment).
You’ll manage expectations and liaise with academics and contractors to ensure your projects are delivered safely and on time.
About the rolesBoth roles involve developing cohesive project teams, ensuring that all team members are aligned and working towards common goals. By working closely with various clients and stakeholders, you will guarantee seamless project performance and maintain high standards through quality assurance and risk assessments.
To ensure all aspects are on track and within scope, you will closely monitor project performance, successfully implementing solutions by leading external consultants and contractors, coordinating both the legal and practical aspects of NEC and JCT contracts. Your role will be pivotal in ensuring that projects are completed efficiently and effectively, meeting all necessary requirements, budgets and client expectations.
You’ll join a growing team managing capital development and day-to-day maintenance projects. We are a supportive, flexible team that promotes a positive work-life balance. This is a hybrid role with an expectation of 2-3 days on campus per week.

**A little more about your role.**
We are looking for passionate professionals who have a strong experience working with Lead Local Flood Authorities and have a competent understanding of key legislation and policies such as the Flood and Water Management Act, The Land Drainage Act and the National Planning Policy Framework (in relation to flood risk and drainage). With preferred strengths in flood risk management and sustainable drainage you will ideally have familiarity with other water environment disciplines to aid delivery of more complex projects for a range of clients.
The appointment would be at Senior or Principal grade, depending on experience. We can be flexible on location within the UK and offer a true hybrid work arrangement.
You will contribute to a diverse range of projects but the main focus of your work is likely to be delivering and taking technical lead roles on flood risk management projects for local authorities which can include large range of projects including; flood investigations, developing flood strategies, helping deliver solutions for flood alleviation, natural flood management, sustainable drainage master-planning, and supporting the planning process to ensure the most sustainable solutions are achieved for the water environment.
Your work will be varied but will include some technical, management and commercial responsibilities. Sharing your technical expertise and mentoring others in the team will also be an important part of your role.

- BSc/MSc in a relevant project management/surveying/engineering related subject (RICS,CIOB,APM)
- Project Delivery from RIBA 0-6
- General commercial project experience
- Commercial project delivery experience would be desirable
- NEC/JCT experience would be an advantage
