Job Description
We're looking for a detail-oriented and proactive QA Engineer to join our collaborative team at Deskpro, a growing help desk software company. As an integral member of our engineering team, you'll ensure the quality and functionality of our product through manual testing of stories and bug fixes, automating tests where appropriate, championing QA best practices, and working alongside developers to triage and resolve defects. You'll also have exciting opportunities to grow your skills by contributing to our test automation efforts with Playwright, helping us maintain excellent testing standards whilst supporting our product's continued development.
Role & ResponsibilitiesAs a QA Engineer, you will:
- Collaborate closely with scrum teams to manually test stories and bug fixes , ensuring each release meets our high quality standards.
- Champion QA best practices during scrum meetings and refinements , working with the team to define clear testing requirements and share knowledge across disciplines.
- Partner with developers in triaging and reproducing defects , contributing to swift issue identification and resolution.
- Execute regression and smoke tests during release cycles and as needed, helping maintain system stability and reliability.
- Contribute to our automation strategy by converting exploratory tests into Playwright automation (JS/TS) , expanding our test coverage whilst developing your technical skills.
Requirements
What you'll bring:
- Experience in QA engineering or software testing, preferably within an Agile development environment.
- Knowledge of manual testing practices and automated testing using tools like Playwright (JS/TS) or similar frameworks.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with experience working across development and product teams.
- Experience triaging defects and partnering with developers to resolve issues efficiently.
- Understanding of regression testing and smoke testing within release cycles.
- Strong attention to detail and a focus on user experience and reliability.
- Familiarity with Agile processes and tools, or willingness to learn.

Key Responsibilities:- Collaborate with cross functional teams to understand product features and architecture.
- Derive meaningful test scenarios based on business requirements and system workflows.
- Perform functional, regression, integration and end-to-end testing on tasks and epics.
- Develop and maintain an up-to-date regression pack to ensure ongoing testing of critical functionalities.
- Write, execute, and maintain test cases for automation.
- Assist in bug reproduction, investigation and work with developers on root cause analysis.
- Maintain test scripts to run in CI/CD environment.

Requirements
- Proven experience in quality assurance across automated and manual testing within software development with at least 3+ years of experience.
- Should have 2+ years’ experience in front-end, API and end-to-end testing.
- Develop and maintain automated scripts using tools like Playwright, Cypress, K6 and Postman.
- Strong preference for experience in scripting language such as TypeScript, JavaScript.
- Skilled in using CI/CD tooling such as GitLab, TeamCity etc
- Experience using Jira or similar project management tool.
- Maintain and enhance test documentation including test scenarios and bug reports.
- Excellent attention to detail, highly organised with a proactive and independent approach.
- Capable of working on multiple tasks simultaneously and managing deadlines.
- Relevant testing qualifications such as ISTQB, Agile software testing courses.

We are looking for someone to help us to test the mobile apps that bring our industry-leading interfaces to life. If you have answered yes to both questions above, we’d love to hear from you!
What you will be doing:
Reporting to the Software QA Manager, you will be working as part of a small development team to ensure the successful delivery of new mobile software to our users.
You will continue to evolve good practice in the planning and documentation of app testing within an agile development environment, and in the appropriate use of automated testing. Contributing to the continual evolution of our test approaches and tools will be a key part of your role.
You will work closely with the rest of the QA Team, as well as Software Developers, Product Designers, Product Owners, and Scrum Masters from across our Engineering Department.
Key activities include:
- Supporting a culture of shared ownership for software quality and helping to maintain focus on our customers’ quality expectations.
- Facilitating the creation of robust, well documented, and maintainable functional, non-functional, and user acceptance tests, as well as writing and executing them yourself
- Writing automated end-to-end tests to enable more efficient regression testing.
- Documenting and reporting test results, working closely with software developers to address any issues.
An ideal candidate is likely to be:
- From a professional mobile app (preferably hybrid) testing background
- An advocate for Test Driven Development, comfortable writing automated end-to-end tests (preferably in JavaScript or TypeScript).
- Familiar with git-based workflows (pull requests, rebasing, etc.) and the principles of Continuous Integration (CI).
- Self-motivated, with a track record of improving test processes and coverage.
- A clear communicator, used to working in an Agile development team.
- Methodical and rigorous, with a logical approach to problem solving.
- Passionate and knowledgeable about music, audio technology, and recording.
Experience of some of the following would also be useful:
