Our client, a prominent biopharmaceutical company, is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Research Scientist to join their drug discovery and development team in Nottingham, Nottinghamshire, UK . This hybrid role is central to advancing novel therapeutic candidates through the preclinical development pipeline. You will be responsible for designing and executing complex experiments, analysing data, and contributing to the strategic direction of research projects. Key responsibilities include developing and validating in vitro and in vivo assays to assess drug efficacy, toxicity, and pharmacokinetic profiles. You will play a crucial role in identifying and characterising new drug targets, and evaluating potential drug molecules using a range of biochemical, cellular, and molecular biology techniques. Extensive literature reviews, experimental design, and data interpretation will be integral to your daily work. Collaboration with cross-functional teams, including medicinal chemists, pharmacologists, and regulatory affairs specialists, is essential for project success. You will be expected to maintain meticulous laboratory records, prepare scientific reports, and present findings at internal meetings and scientific conferences. The ideal candidate will hold a PhD in Pharmacology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or a related life science discipline, with a strong track record of research publications. Postdoctoral experience in a relevant area of drug discovery is highly desirable. Expertise in assay development, molecular cloning, cell culture techniques, and data analysis software is required. Experience with specific therapeutic areas or disease models relevant to the company's pipeline would be a significant advantage. You will possess excellent analytical and critical thinking skills, a strong understanding of the drug development process, and a passion for scientific innovation. The ability to work independently, manage multiple projects, and communicate complex scientific information effectively is essential. Key Responsibilities:

Qualifications:

  • Strong data analysis and interpretation skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage projects.
  • Experience with relevant therapeutic areas is a plus.
