About the role

Key Responsibilities

In collaboration with the Assistant Headteacher:

  • Inspire and motivate staff and pupils to maintain high standards across KS2

  • Support staff development and induction, ensuring continuity and quality across the key stage
  • Collaborate with parents, carers, and the wider community to enhance pupil learning
  • Oversee schemes of work, track progress, and measure the impact of teaching and learning
  • Contribute to reviewing and refining the curriculum to ensure progression and engagement

Who We’re Looking For

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
  • Proven experience teaching within the primary phase, with a strong record of outstanding teaching in KS2

Our client, an outstanding primary school committed to fostering a nurturing and challenging learning environment, is seeking an experienced and dynamic Lead Teacher for Key Stage 2 (KS2). This is an on-site position, crucial for delivering high-quality education and leadership within the primary school setting. As the Lead Teacher, you will be responsible for overseeing the curriculum delivery, student progress, and professional development of teaching staff within the KS2 phase. You will play a pivotal role in ensuring academic excellence, promoting positive behaviour, and fostering a love of learning among pupils. Responsibilities:
  • Lead and manage the Key Stage 2 team, providing strategic direction and support to ensure high standards of teaching and learning.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor the KS2 curriculum, ensuring it is engaging, relevant, and meets national standards.
  • Drive school improvement initiatives within the KS2 phase, focusing on raising attainment and accelerating pupil progress.
  • Conduct regular lesson observations and provide constructive feedback to teachers to enhance pedagogical practice.
  • Oversee the assessment and tracking of pupil progress, identifying areas for intervention and support.
  • Promote a positive and inclusive learning environment where all pupils can thrive.
  • Support the professional development of KS2 staff, identifying training needs and opportunities.
  • Collaborate effectively with other phase leaders, senior leadership team, and governors.
  • Ensure effective management of resources allocated to the KS2 phase.
  • Maintain high standards of behaviour and discipline among pupils.
  • Communicate effectively with parents and carers regarding pupil progress and school matters.
Qualifications:
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with a relevant degree (e.g., BA Education, PGCE).
  • Significant experience teaching within Key Stage 2, with a demonstrable track record of outstanding practice.
  • Proven experience in a leadership or middle management role within a primary school setting.
  • In-depth knowledge of the national curriculum and assessment requirements for KS2.
  • Strong understanding of effective pedagogical approaches and strategies for raising attainment.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to inspire and motivate both students and staff.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
  • Experience in data analysis to inform school improvement strategies.
