About Us
Children’s Hospice Southwest provides care and support for children with life limiting conditions. Working as part of a small team, you will support the manager with running the shop. This shop is crucial to raising essential funds which helps to make most of short and precious lives.
Where you will be working
This is a brand-new shop where you will have the opportunity to really make a difference within the local community, as a Shop Manager you will be involved in all aspects of running the shop.
The Role
In addition to excellent teamwork and a collaborative approach, you should have the passion, leadership skills and experience to motivate a team of staff and volunteers; and team members who are commercially aware, driven, well organised and hands on to maximise profits and generate stock, helping us raise valuable funds.
If you have experience of managing a team of paid staff and volunteers, enjoy being on the shop floor, have an interest in fashion and driving sales through great customer service, whilst knowing that your work helps to raise a smile every day – this may be the job for you!
The Successful Candidate
Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential. You will be organised and able to manage time effectively. You will have experience of working in retail at a managerial/supervisory level and delivering targets and objectives. You will have the ability to motivate a team and use your own initiative.

Training
Full on-the-job training will be given including opening and closing of the shop, use of the till and CHSW systems, and stock display.

The Shakespeare Hospice, based in Stratford upon Avon, offers a diverse range of services across South Warwickshire and surrounding areas. Patients and their families/carers can access one or more specialised services: day hospice, hospice at home, adult and children's counselling for pre and post bereavement, and spiritual, emotional and complementary therapies. We pride our offer as one that is all inclusive and embraces not only the patient but their complete support system, family and loved ones.
The Hospice has seven charity shops and an active online presence selling a variety of new and donated quality goods. Profits raised from our shops play a vital role in our income generation activities, helping us to generate the £3 million per year it costs to deliver our services.
We are looking for an experienced, passionate and motivated Shop Manager to manage our shop in Alcester. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in a growing organisation, where your retail experience will help generate vital funds to support our hospice services.
The successful candidate will have excellent communication and management skills, to lead a dedicated team of staff and volunteers to achieve income targets. You will also be able to create visual merchandising displays which are innovative and engaging, and provide a positive shopping experience for all our donors and customers.
Our ideal candidate will have previous retail management experience, with a sharp business mind-set and be willing to be an active and leading presence on the shop floor. This role will be hands-on and require manual handling of larger items. Volunteering in the shop
Mary's Living & Giving for Save the Children is unique - a vibrant result of the generous gifts of local individuals and companies being turned around by the skills and passions of volunteer teams, to create a destination retail experience. Selling womenswear, menswear, shoes, and bags to household goods, our shops can be found in the London villages and bring in vital funds for Save the Children.
Our Fulham Shop Volunteers are in the middle of it all, and there’s plenty to get involved with. You might be sorting and pricing stock, engaging with customers, ringing items through the till, creating fantastic window displays or keeping our shop floor looking organised.
It’s up to you how much you commit. We have volunteers who support for a couple of hours a week and some do more. Many people volunteer either a morning or an afternoon each week - this is something that will be discussed at the selection stage, after you’ve applied.
