On behalf of Rolls-Royce, AMS are recruiting for a number of Skilled Inspectors for their Civil Aerospace business in Bristol.

These Skilled Inspector positions are available on initial 12-month contracts. Please note this role is going to be on a rotating shift pattern, each shift has a fixed pay rate (mornings, afternoons and nights).

In this role, you will be using visual, dimensional inspection techniques and CMM machines to find any non-conformance on aerospace turbine components. This could be intermediate inspection, receipt and dispatch of components or final clear inspection. As an Inspector, you will work with manufacturing engineers to determine the right course of action to address any non-conformance, and you will be responsible for delivering against weekly targets to meet customer requirements.

As an Skilled Inspector you will be able to:

  • Work to technical instructions to deliver consistent, high-quality machining and inspection across a variety of different components and product families.
  • Operate CNC machines including grinding and laser machines.
  • Operate measuring equipment, including, micrometers, plug gauges, and surface finish equipment.
  • Interpret manufacturing drawings, customer drawings, written specifications.
  • Analyse and understand the output of CMM programmes.
  • Work in a team to make sure Rolls-Royce delivers against their customer commitments.

What we are looking for from a Skilled Inspector:

  • A recognised time-served apprenticeship/modern apprenticeship within a Mechanical Engineering discipline, along with either NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification.*
  • Clear and demonstrated understanding of drawing interpretation, calibration, technical instruction and asset care.
  • A strong awareness of H&S and inspection visual techniques.

*Please attach copies of your Level 3 qualification and completed apprenticeship document along with your CV if possible as these are an essential requirement for this role.

**Main Responsibilities:**

+ Support equipment set-up and changeovers, and provide training to appropriate staff as needed.
+ Diagnose and repair equipment breakdowns efficiently to minimise downtime and product loss, working independently when required.
+ Contribute to and carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM), ensuring all relevant documentation and SOPs are followed.
+ Monitor and maintain performance of critical utilities and process equipment in a cGMP environment, including repairs, calibrations, and adjustments.

The job purpose is to carry out planned preventative maintenance, reactive works to building plant, equipment and systems in accordance with agreed service levels, undertake small installation works and respond to site engineering emergencies.
