The Opportunity
We invite a subject matter expert in tank and pressure vessel engineering to consider future opportunities within our dynamic team at KBR. This highly respected role involves extensive interaction with clients, project managers, suppliers, senior leadership, and our global network of mechanical engineers across KBR's international offices.
The successful candidate will provide technical leadership in the engineering of LNG storage tanks, atmospheric storage tanks, and pressure vessels. Relevant experience is typically gained through working for a consulting engineering firm or an end-user organisation.

+ A degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline. Chartered engineer status is preferred.
+ Proven track record as a subject matter expert on energy transition and petrochemical projects, covering concept development, front-end engineering design, and detailed design.

**INTRODUCTION:**
T Levels are two-year qualifications for 16-19-year-olds which combine practical and theoretical learning. Pearson has recently won the tender to offer the T Level in Science, and we are currently seeking subject matter experts to review and revise some aspects of the qualification.
This is a major project which is likely to run to December 2025.
**ROLE SUMMARY:**
An external Subject Matter Expert provides up-to-date sector or subject specific expertise that feeds into the development of the given qualification(s). The Subject Matter Expert must have current sector/subject knowledge and experience relevant to the qualification(s) in question.
In particular, we are interested to hear from applicants with up-to-date occupational expertise in the following areas:
+ Food Science
**RESPONSIBILITIES/TYPICAL TASKS:**
+ Working alongside Pearson Development Managers and the wider qualification development team
+ Commenting on the appropriateness of sector/subject content within the qualification(s)/unit(s)
+ Contributing to scoping activities to determine the appropriateness of the proposed qualification(s)
+ Reviewing qualification subject/sector content and sample assessment materials appropriate for the subject/sector.
**ESSENTIAL:**
+ Current sector experience/applied subject knowledge with at least two years' experience
+ Good communication skills: good standard of written English and ability to offer constructive feedback clearly and concisely
+ Confident use of IT and word processing
+ Ability to follow a brief and meet deadlines
+ Flexibility to adapt to changing guidelines and attend training as required.
**DESIRABLE:**
+ Educated to a level 4 standard (HNC/1st year degree) or above with relevant qualifications for the particular sector/subject area, or substantial vocational experience (at least 3 years)
+ Knowledge and experience of conducting and/or writing assessments within the subject area (as a teacher/tutor or within an educational environment) or experience in assessing/verifying/delivering training for qualifications
