About the Role
We are seeking a committed, energetic Sports Coach to join our team at a secondary special school supporting students with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs. You will play a key role in delivering physical education and sports programmes, helping students develop skills, confidence and resilience in a structured, nurturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assisting teachers in delivering a range of lessons and sporting activities across the curriculum.
- Plan, organise, and deliver lessons that engage all students, adapting coaching styles to suit differing needs
- Promote positive behaviour and social skills through sport, modelling respect, discipline, teamwork and perseverance
- Monitor and assess student progress, providing feedback to students and liaising with teachers and support staff
- Support the wider pastoral team in helping students with SEMH needs to manage emotions and behaviour during sports sessions
About You
We're looking for someone who:
- Experience supporting students with SEMH needs, challenging behaviour, or those at risk of exclusion.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to inspire trust and motivate learners.
- Calm, patient, and resilient approach, able to adapt to a variety of situations.
