You will join a global IT consultancy delivering digital transformation to a public sector body.

This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for actively supporting and guiding the team of seven through complex technical challenges.

Summary

As a Software Engineer Lead, you'll be working on the implementation of a "hydra-node", which is a decentralized, event-sourced backend application acting as a component in a layer 2 stack for the Cardano network. Blockchain interaction (Utxo-based ledger + Plutus scripts in our case), networking, cryptography, APIs, persistence and resilience are some of the topics that engage us. This role will report to the Engineering Chapter.

We develop in an agile, amenable, and iterative approach inspired by eXtreme Programming (XP) and its values. Despite (or rather because of) the fact that we all work in a fully remote setting, we communicate daily and prefer working in an ensemble/pair programming setting as much as possible. But we also leave room for some more traditional solo programming with pull requests. Most of the time, we drive our development using end-to-end, integration, unit, and (our favorite) property tests.

Although we only use Haskell in this project, extensive knowledge and expertise in it is not required as we try to practice "non-fancy" (aka simple or boring) Haskell. Instead, experience in one or more areas of our domain, seniority in another statically typed or functional programming language, substantial experience in building, delivering, and running distributed systems, as well as willingness to learn are more important to us.

Requirements

Key Competencies 

1. Proficiency in Haskell programming.

Education / Experience

• Degree in Computer Science is desirable but not essential.
• Minimum of seven years experience in a statically typed or functional programming language; Haskell is ideal, but not strictly required.

• Demonstrated track record of delivering complex software projects, from initial concept to successful deployment.
• Strong practical experience implementing Agile methodologies in software development environments.

Requirements

Education / Experience

• Degree in Computer Science is desirable but not essential 
• 10+ years of software engineering experience in the required language (Haskell) including 2 years of team management
• Experience working with Git and Git workflow
• Practical experience with Agile software development methods
• Knowledge of functional and object-oriented programming paradigms

Skills relevant for Consensus 

• Demonstrated ability to effectively navigate the typical developer workflow, including code review, debugging, and thorough documentation of decisions and processes.
• Comfortable working with new or unfamiliar parts of the codebase, showing adaptability and problem-solving skills.
• Strong background in Haskell, with familiarity in the Haskell ecosystem, including key libraries and concepts such as lenses, Template-Haskell, CBOR, GHC Generics, STM, Effects systems, mtl, pipes, SOP, etc.

The new Network SIEM is essential to BT’s network security, meeting TSA requirements and improving our CAF level. Being the SIEM DevOps with SysOps Software Engineer you will play a critical role in designing, developing, implementing, and maintaining our strategic SIEM platform as part of the Security Engineering platform team, leading the implementation of the SIEM Automation strategy and providing guidance and oversight of the SIEM Platform Automation team.

What you’ll be doing

• Kubernetes DevOps/SysOps Engineering role managing Kubernetes clusters and container orchestration, automating deployment, scaling, and management of containerized applications. 
• Implement best practices for Kubernetes configuration and security.
• Configuration, deployment and maintenance of Elastic Stack on Kubernetes (ECK)
• Work with log Collection Tools and Technologies (Beats, Elastic Agent, Logstash), syslog and other data collection protocols 
• DevOps/SysOps Engineering collaborating with cross-functional teams (development, operations, and QA) to streamline software delivery and automating deployment pipelines using CI/CD tools
