We have an exciting opportunity for a Land Management, Ecology & Conservation Advisor. This is a varied role and could suit candidate from a range of backgrounds related to ecology & biodiversity, conservation & restoration and land management (rural / agricultural). The official internal job title for the role is Nature Recovery Advisor.
The role:
You'll develop and implement practical, and science led management plans for shooting estates and other rural land, providing technical guidance, forging partnerships and advocating for sustainable practices that benefit both biodiversity and the rural way of life. You'll provide expert ecological advice across a range of projects, initiatives and operations, directly influencing how we manage land, enhance biodiversity and deliver crucial habitat improvements across the UK.
- Act as the lead point of contact on how sustainable shooting and habitat management contribute to nature recovery. Offering expert guidance to internal teams, members, rural communities and external stakeholders to steer nature positive work.
- Develop and promote tailored services and advice for members engaged in sustainable shooting with an emphasis on protected or ecologically sensitive sites.
- Drive the creation and execution of land management plans and habitat improvement projects rooted in nature-positive principles. You'll offer crucial ecological and conservation expertise for shoot and habitat management, and during statutory consenting processes, guaranteeing well-informed and sound decisions.
- Collaborate closely with regional and country teams to ensure consistent messaging, robust knowledge-sharing and the effective delivery of events, advice and services. This holistic approach extends to fostering partnerships with external stakeholders and experts, ensuring that best practices in ecology and conservation are deeply embedded in all work.
Candidate requirements:
- A bachelor’s degree or demonstrable experience in a relevant field E.g. ecology & biodiversity, conservation & restoration, land management (rural / agricultural)
- Experience of writing technical management or conservation reports and plans for sites.
- Experience of analysing and interpreting data
- Ability to combine a scientific interest in the natural world with a practical, people-oriented approach to making a positive difference for the environment.
- Project Management skills / experience
