What you will be doing:
This is a hands-on, fast-paced role where you will manage a wide-ranging, challenging and stimulating caseload of contract and procurement work. From the start, you will provide expert legal advice that helps the Council achieve its savings targets and deliver vital services efficiently.
You will lead on complex contract and procurement matters, engaging with stakeholders across departments to find practical, legally sound solutions. Your day might include reviewing a governance report, drafting a critical contract, advising on procurement strategy or preparing documents for engrossment. What you will bring
You must be a qualified Solicitor, Barrister or Fellow of CILEx entitled to practise in England and Wales. You'll have proven experience advising on contracts and procurement, with a strong grasp of the Public Contracts Regulations 2015, the Procurement Act 2023 and subsidy control matters.
You will bring both technical skill and sound judgement, along with the confidence to handle sensitive issues and work directly with Members and senior officers. You'll be a collaborative team player who builds trust through clarity, professionalism and integrity.
