We’re looking for a skilled and motivated legal professional to lead our prosecution efforts. This senior position involves representing the organisation in court, overseeing legal strategy and compliance, and managing a dedicated team of legal professionals. You’ll play a pivotal role in shaping enforcement practices and ensuring the integrity of our legal processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide authoritative legal advice on legislation, policy updates, and best practices in prosecuting offences.
- Lead and support a legal team in case preparation and courtroom representation, ensuring full legal and procedural compliance.
- Review and oversee the drafting of prosecution documents and case files for legal accuracy and evidential robustness.
- Deliver training and continuous legal development on topics including criminal evidence, disclosure obligations, data protection, and court procedures.
- Contribute to the design and implementation of systems for reporting and analysing enforcement activities.
- Represent the organisation as an advocate in court and at relevant legal proceedings.
- Collaborate with senior leaders to align legal strategy with broader organisational goals.
- A qualified solicitor or barrister with a minimum of 5 years' post-qualification experience (PQE).
- Significant experience in prosecution within bodies such as the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS), Serious Fraud Office (SFO), or a comparable authority.
- Proven ability to manage litigation, including applying prosecution standards such as the Full Code Test.
- Deep knowledge of criminal law, court procedures, and rules of evidence.
- Exceptional advocacy, organisational, and communication skills.
- Confidence working independently with sound legal judgment.
- Background in transport, fare enforcement, or regulatory sectors.
- Familiarity with digital case management systems and legal compliance tools.
