First Military Recruitment are currently seeking a Sommelier on behalf of one of our clients.

Our client encourages applications from ex-military personnel however all candidates will be given due consideration.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Curate and maintain an extensive and diverse wine list that reflects the tastes and preferences of members while considering seasonal trends and food pairings.
  • Provide expert wine recommendations and guidance to members and guests, ensuring an exceptional and personalised wine experience
  • Oversee the wine service, including proper presentation, pouring techniques and glassware.
  • Collaborate with the Executive Chef and kitchen team to create and update wine and food pairing options that complement the seasonal menu.
  • Educate and train staff on wine offerings, proper service techniques and tasting notes to elevate the overall service experience.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends, new wine releases and emerging regions, ensuring the wine list is dynamic and of the highest quality.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Previous experience as a Sommelier in a fine dining or luxury hospitality setting, ideally within a private members club or similar environment.
  • Extensive knowledge of wine regions, varietals and trends, with a refined palate and the ability to recommend wines that complement various cuisines.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with members and staff.
  • Certification in wine education (e.g., WSET Level 3 or equivalent) preferred.
