As they expand their technical capabilities, they’re looking for an experienced Senior Specifications Technologist to lead on key customer accounts and mentor a team.


The Role


Reporting to the Technical Services Manager, you’ll take responsibility for writing and managing specifications across a wide range of UK major retail and customer accounts.

You’ll act as a subject matter expert for key retail portals and artwork systems, ensuring specifications are completed to the highest standards, right first time and on time. This is a hands-on, detail-driven role, where you’ll also support internal teams across NPD, technical, and supply chain to make sure every product is fully compliant and launch-ready.


As part of the wider technical function, you’ll play a key role in supporting internal audits, managing critical paths, coordinating artwork approval processes, and training more junior team members. You’ll also be the go-to contact for retailer updates, legislation changes, and system notifications, helping the business stay aligned with customer expectations and industry standards.


This is a varied and fast-paced role that requires confident communication with both internal teams and external partners, including retailers, print houses, and suppliers.


The Person


We’re looking for an experienced Specifications Technologist with a strong track record of working across major UK retailer accounts. You’ll be confident using multiple specification systems (e.g. Hamilton Grant, Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Co-op, Aldi, Lidl), with a solid understanding of customer codes of practice, labelling requirements, and artwork processes. Experience mentoring a small team would be ideal. Knowledge of packaging sustainability schemes (FSC, RSPO, UTZ) and Brexit-related export requirements would be a plus.
