- Strong strategic thinking and communication skills, with the ability to translate external insights into actionable internal plans.
- Proven track record of delivering results in complex, multi-stakeholder environments, particularly in regulated or policy-driven contexts.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently, and deliver high-quality outputs in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience leading cross-functional initiatives and contributing to long-term strategic planning.

Stantec is seeking an experienced Stakeholder Engagement Consultant to join our dynamic and collaborative team in the UK. This is a fantastic opportunity for a mid-career professional to make a real impact on nationally significant projects.
As a key part of our growing Stakeholder Engagement and Consultation Team, you'll support the planning and delivery of crucial engagement strategies across diverse sectors, including water, energy, transport, and environmental infrastructure.
You'll work on projects similar to:
+ The **M3 Junction 9 Improvement Scheme** , enhancing connectivity in the South East.
+ The **Hampshire Water Transfer and Water Recycling Project** , securing long-term water supplies.
Working alongside multidisciplinary colleagues, you will:
+ Develop and implement tailored stakeholder engagement and consultation plans.
+ Build and maintain strong relationships with local authorities, statutory consultees, residents, landowners, and community groups.
+ Manage public consultation events (in-person and online), producing high-quality materials and feedback summaries.
+ Provide strategic advice to clients on engagement risks, opportunities, and best practices.
**About You**
We're looking for a confident communicator who understands the value of inclusive, transparent, and meaningful engagement. You'll ideally bring:
+ Extensive experience in stakeholder engagement, consultation, communications, or public affairs.
+ A background or keen interest in infrastructure, planning, energy, water, or local government.
+ Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to distil complex information for various audiences.
+ Proven experience managing stakeholder relationships and delivering high-quality engagement under tight deadlines.
+ Knowledge of relevant legislation and guidance, such as the Gunning Principles, Planning Act 2008 (DCO process), or best practice in consultation.
+ Experience with digital engagement tools or mapping software.
+ An understanding of the political and community landscape in the North of England.
