Job Description

the role

As a senior research consultant, you’ll be an authority on the trends pushing our industry forward, engaging with those driving these trends.

Working within this role will give you insight into the most exciting developments in life science innovation, from medicines R&D to health equity, and artificial intelligence to health geopolitics. You’ll often be speaking with senior executives responsible for making change happen, providing critical strategic insights to transform our clients’ businesses.

why we exist

Let's be honest - the pharma industry is generally very traditional and doesn’t have a great reputation.

Yet the work it does is life-or-death important, and health is a very emotive industry. It could be so much better - and we want to help it get there.

Impatient Health is a catalyst for change within pharma. We connect those who believe that pharma has great untapped potential and are desperate to do things differently - and help them through events, research and strategy consulting.

Despite being young as a company (4 years), we have some incredible assets – (i) knowing everyone in the industry, (ii) having an ‘independent’ positioning, and (iii) having a well-known CEO who is a disruptor & thought-leader.

This gives us a unique platform from which to challenge others and inspire them to do better for patients.

your responsibilities

  • Lead elements of Impatient Health’s strategy for original research, working closely with company directors and the research and consulting teams;
  • Take ownership of research projects, from design to delivery, ensuring outputs directly address client challenges and create successful outcomes;
  • Conduct both qualitative and quantitative research and bring them together into clear, cohesive and actionable findings;
  • Synthesize and communicate research insights in persuasive and innovative ways;
  • Evolve our methods, tools and techniques for research, ensuring best practice across the team;
  • Support junior colleagues with guidance and mentoring;
  • Contribute to business development and proposals to grow our client base;
  • Ad-hoc responsibilities as they come – as a small, close-knit team, we all rely on one another to achieve our shared goals.

about you

  • You are a strategic research thinker, with a clear set of ideas and opinions about the craft as it continues to evolve;
  • You have strong knowledge of diverse research methods, balancing pragmatism and rigour to draw insights from qualitative and quantitative data and primary/secondary sources;
  • You have a natural ability to turn data into compelling narratives and present them persuasively;
  • You understand the pharma industry, from full product life cycle to understanding how life sciences companies function
  • You are a highly effective communicator, confident in engaging senior leaders both internally and externally;
  • You are committed to ethical research methods and ensure they are embedded in your work;
  • You are a connector and relationship builder, comfortable leading client conversations and managing expectations;
  • You navigate project challenges and client communications to keep everything running smoothly.

you have

  • Strong experience delivering research projects in pharma, life sciences or healthcare;
  • A proven track record of supporting business development and project proposals;
  • Exceptional attention to detail and strong organisational skills;
  • The ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively;
  • A collaborative nature, alongside the confidence to work independently and take ownership of key deliverables;
  • The capacity to challenge assumptions and propose innovative solutions;
  • Strong business acumen, spotting strategic opportunities instinctively.

not at all a deal-breaker if you don’t have these

  • Hands-on experience with strategic research methods such as design thinking, human-centred design or workshop design/facilitation;
  • Previous consultancy experience.

life at Impatient

️ Work/Life Balance: We’re all aiming to strike the right work life balance. You'll get together regularly with the UK-based members of our team - while still having the flexibility to work remotely. Learning Opportunities: Your personal development is our collective future success. In addition to dedicated regular time to progressing your career goals, we also offer 'study leave' for if you’re working towards something big - our senior leadership team are here to offer support and guidance for your development.

Culture: Remote-first doesn't need to mean distant - we’re a friendly bunch at Impatient and overcompensate for our lack of office with some amazing offsites and moments of connection. We'll make sure you get the face time to form connections with the wider team.
