Early Years Student Work Placement

Job Description
Kido are proud to be able to offer students who are studying a relevant Level 2 or Level 3 early years / childcare qualification a work placement opportunity!
We’re a nursery group where innovation and imagination unite to create modern Early Years settings, with international nurseries in India, USA and the UK. We have 13 (soon to be 14!) Ofsted rated Good and Outstanding nurseries in and around London. You can find out more about our nurseries and their locations via
We blend the best practices from the Montessori, Reggio Emilia, and Waldorf Steiner approaches and this magical fusion, combined with state-of-the-art learning spaces and 21st-century technology, brings a whole new level of wonder to early years education at Kido.
This is your opportunity to join an amazing growing nursery group where we can support you to develop your own career path, wherever your ambitions lie in early years. By starting on a work placement while you’re studying, this could lead to paid work with us as an Early Years Assistant or even pursuing a full or part-time Nursery Educator position with us once you complete your studies. From there, you may pursue further qualifications, gain experience across different ages from 3 months to 5 years, or work ‘up the ladder’ towards management.
What you can expect on work placement
On work placement, you’ll gain valuable hands-on experience within the nursery. Your primary focus will be supporting the Room Leaders and Educators in providing a safe and inspiring learning environment where every child thrives. You’ll be a team player with a positive can-do attitude, collaborating with the team to deliver engaging activities that align with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) standards for child learning and development. An ability to effectively communicate with parents, children and colleagues will set you apart and aid us in delivering the best experience possible.
We’ll make sure you get valuable experiences across our nursery, building your confidence in the workplace. Some of the activities may involve arts and crafts, music, outdoor play, reading time, as well as support with meal times to ensure every child has the right food and drink for their dietary needs.
We take pride in creating a nurturing environment that caters to individual needs, acknowledging the diversity of each child's background, culture, disabilities, and medical history. This is just as important for our staff too, and we’re proud of our diverse teams. Your feedback will be valued as we constantly push the boundaries of excellence and reimagine what exceptional early years education really means.
How do I apply?
Get in touch with us via and we’ll be in touch. The recruitment team will have a chat with you initially to check what you’re looking for to work around your studies, and figure out which nursery location is best for you too.
There will be some forms to complete, a bit like an application form, and we’ll ask you for a couple of references too. This could be your course tutor and a previous teacher or a manager if you have had a job. We need these because we need to do some important background checks as part of our Safer Recruitment process. This is a requirement from Ofsted and the NSPCC and means we safeguard children. Every person coming to work in any way within our nurseries goes through the same checks.
We’ll also need to process a DBS (criminal record check) if your college hasn’t processed one already.
