Our client, an established aerospace & defence manufacturing firm in Cumbria, require an experienced Submarine Support Engineer to join their multi-disciplined team.
You will join an established team tasked with the delivery and assurance of maintenance derivation work, maintenance task analysis, level of repair analysis and maintenance tasks instructions. The role involves collaboration with a range of Internal and External stakeholders including industry partners across a number of Submarine programmes.
This role would require 1 full week in Cumbria every 4-6 weeks. Base locations for those not local to Cumbria include Faslane / Bristol / Hull / Weymouth & Portsmouth.

What the role of the Submarine Support Engineer entails:
Some of the main duties of the Submarine Support Engineer will include:
- Provide ex-operator knowledge to assess and analyse; system designs, diagrams and information data, to ensure technical accuracy, process instructions correctness, and input for maintenance derivation outputs
- Provide technical leadership, coaching and mentoring of others
- Have a clear understanding of, and apply, the Quality and SH&E Management System documentation

**About the role:**
The Marine Engineering Submarine (MESM) subject matter expert (SME) is responsible for gathering the technical data to support the courseware & media development programme. The MESM SME will have suitable Knowledge, Skills and Behaviour and will understand the technical data required, the sources of that data and how to access that data.
The Requirements Team SMEs will work with the Courseware and Media Teams to identify technical data requirements for the development of Defence Systems Approach to Training (DSAT) courseware and media. Having identified the data requirements, the Requirements Team SME will work with the courseware and media content developers to contextualise training and language and ensure correct conditions and standards are applied to the training solution.
**Skills** **and Experience**
+ Proven at sea experience as a Cat A or Cat B Nuclear watchkeeper.

+ PWR 2.
+ Electrical Background.
+ Fwd ME duties.
+ Training requirements, design or delivery.
+ Member of a Boat Build Crew

**Responsibilities**
+ Work as a member of the wider team responsible for the analysis, design, maintenance, review and production of DSAT Documentation & processes for our Customer's training sites and organisations.
+ Interviewing subject matter experts to collate required data, participate in internal workshops to discuss and agree findings from analysis.
+ Work with the customer and the customer's agents and suppliers to identify technical data required for courseware and media development and also external routes to obtain the data.
+ Work with the courseware and media content developers to contextualise training and language and ensure correct conditions and standards are applied to the training solution.
+ Conduct the upkeep, update and revalidation of course technical data.
+ Identify where training methods and media currently in use in the Customer may be exploited to better develop and deliver the Programme's courseware.
+ Be 'Responsible for championing and fostering a culture of Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) compliance and continuous improvement'.
+ Any other duties required to complete the CMDC Training Service.

Key job responsibilities
In this position, the candidate will work closely with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders to manage the compliance and reporting requirements of the global AWS subsea network. The candidate will be responsible for the managing and reporting of our compliance requirements and response, policy development, and compliance training. The candidate will also undertake financial and project management within the subsea engineering team to support the ongoing operations of our in-service network.
Specific knowledge of submarine cable deployment and operation is looked for, but not a necessity.

About the team
The Subsea engineering team is responsible for all aspects of submarine network deployment, operation, upgrades and management within AWS. We own the technology roadmap and standards for submarine fibre optic cable, installation methods, procurement of the SLTE, RSPC and associated operational models and security postures. The team works closely with the Regional Business Development teams to deliver submarine capacity to a global standard, enabling economic and scalable consistency for all our customers.

Basic Qualifications
- 7+ years' experience in Program Management, preferably on a global scale, with ability to conceptualize, manage, and prioritize multiple projects.
- Knowledge and experience with submarine cable systems.
- Experience in automation, operational excellence, or continuous improvement techniques.
- Experience in compliance and risk management including developing and executing compliance management techniques.
- Experience interacting with and guiding senior management within a company and working across commercial, technical, domestic, and international arms of an organization.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with AI tools and automating work flows.
- Ability to merge traditional project management with agile processes.
- Experience in compiling financial records and forecasts.
