My client, a market leading multidisciplinary consultancy who offer a wide range of engineering and consultancy services, is searching for a Sustainability Consultant to join their supportive team in Reading Office.  Alternative office locations are available. 

Candidates are required to have experience working for a UK based Consultancy working as a Sustainability Consultant completing sustainability and energy statements, whole life carbon assessments using OneClick and BREEAM assessments. 

It is beneficial for applicants to have experience completing energy strategies, dynamic modelling and Part L assessments using IES.  

This exciting opportunity will offer you the chance to work on varied sustainability projects for the build environment, across the UK.  You will be supported to complete; 

-BREEAM assessments. 

-WELL assessments

-HQM and Fitwel assessments. 

-Energy and sustainability assessments and statements.

-Holistic sustainability strategies.  

-Whole life carbon assessments using OneClick. 

-Energy and dynamic modelling for thermal comfort assessments and overheating risk assessments.

-Building performance simulation.  

-Net zero carbon strategies.

-Working with team members to research innovative design solutions to ensure cutting edge knowledge of the industry.

In this key and varied role, you can expect to:

  • Assist in the delivery of environmental assessments (such as BREEAM, WELL, HQM, etc) from early design stages through to completion.
  • Supporting the development of holistic Sustainability Strategies
  • Undertake a range of modelling and analysis, which may include but not limited to: embodied carbon of materials, circular economy opportunities, building performance simulation, operational energy use, energy generation, overheating.
  • Support development of energy strategies with our clients to lead sustainability innovation on a series of developments.
  • Support the training of graduate members of the team.
  • Contribute to the development of junior team members.
  • Working with other members of the firm on research and development initiatives to allow us to stay at the cutting edge of knowledge in our industry.
  • As well as project-related work, the Hoare Lea engages directly with industry undertaking research and development studies, and authoring industry guidance. About you

You are likely to have some knowledge and competence in a selection of the following fields:

  • Bespoke sustainability charters

  • Whole Life Carbon Assessments – using OneClick or other methodologies
  • Energy strategies
  • Building Regulations Part L assessments using Elmhurst and IES
  • In-Use energy modelling and assessment

  • Net zero carbon strategies and embodied carbon calculations.
  • To be successful in this role you will need:

Sustainability Consultant- LCA 

My client, a market leading Sustainability Consultancy, is searching for a Sustainability Consultant to deliver Whole Life Carbon Assessments (WLCAs) using OneClick LCA for eco-friendly buildings for clients across the UK.  

You will join a friendly and supportive team based in the heart of Manchester.     

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver Whole Life Carbon Assessments for construction projects in alignment with UK standards using OneClick LCA.  
  • Analyse complex datasets to quantify Whole Life Carbon and present findings clearly to Clients and recommend solutions.  
  • Address Client queries and concerns following LCA results and recommendations.  
  • LCA Project Management including delivering projects to time and budget.  
  • Conduct technical verifications of building LCA studies.
  • BREEAM Assessments.  
  • Develop the carbon management platform, CarbonCentric.  
  • Sustainability Statements.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • A degree in a relevant discipline (e.g. Environmental Management, Energy, Sustainable Engineering, Architecture, or similar).
  • A passion for designing eco-friendly buildings and advising clients on environmental impacts and energy efficiency.  
  • Experience conducting Life Cycle Assessments, using OneClick.  
  • You will be required to have a understanding of LCA methodologies and relevant standards (e.g. RICS and ISO 14044/67).
  • Excellent data handling, analysis and project management skills.  
  • Awareness of broader sustainability themes.  

Desirable Attributes

  • Professional accreditation (e.g. RICS, BREEAM, CIBSE or similar).
  • Experience delivering BREEAM Assessments.
