In this role, you'll be pivotal to ensuring that our corporate and business strategies are supported by the very best financial accounting and control processes - and that these processes continually maximise our profitability and efficiency.
As an Accountant within our Controllership team, you will combine technical accounting with coaching, communication, influencing, leadership and prioritisation skills to ensure that we maintain a strong control environment and support Asda in delivering our financial plan.
The Ins and Outs:
- As an Accountant within the Controllership team, you will act as Financial Controller for part of the Asda business, you will manage the accurate and timely production of financial information for internal/external reporting, including compliance with group accounting policies and procedures and managing the related financial control environment,
- Reviewing financial performance on a monthly basis with Commercial Finance customers including clear articulation of variances to plan/forecast,
- Maintaining an awareness of risk management issues across the Asda business, and lead cross functional projects to enhance the control environment,
- Using the large volumes of data available to continually refine and improve our understanding of the numbers and evolve financial control,
- Working with the business partners and Commercial Finance teams on new business initiatives to ensure the financial reporting impact is understood and financial controls are robust,
- Review of month-end balance sheet reconciliations,
- Delivery of process improvement within the team, looking for opportunities to make processes more efficient
About you
- ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified accountant,
- Confidence liaising with people at all levels,
- Able to quickly prioritise and make decisions,
- Commitment to developing and stretching your own skills,
- Great analytical and problem-solving skills,
- Able to think laterally and challenge the status quo.
- Experience using digital tools such as Alteryx and Tableau would be advantageous but not essential

Total Rewards: We understand compensation is an important factor as you consider the next step in your career. The estimated salary range for this position is $55,000 to $70,000 USD and is based on multiple factors, including job-related knowledge/skills, experience, geographical location, as well as other factors. This position is eligible for annual bonus compensation with a target payout of 10% of the base salary. This position also provides health benefits such as medical, dental and vision; wellness benefits such as mental and financial health; and retirement savings (401K) commensurate with the standard rewards offered in each individual location or country.
