We are now recruiting for an Automation Maintenance Technician (Pool) at our Plymouth Mail Centre, Plymstock, PL9 7XX site.
Salary: £51,051 per annum, plus night shift allowance 22.5 days annual leave with bank holidays and a defined contribution pension scheme. A weekend supplement for Saturday (£1 per attendance) and Sunday ( 02 per attendance) shift attendance is applicable.
You may be eligible for a welcome bonus of £ 500*
*payments are made in instalments and subject to terms and conditions.
The successful candidate will be required to cover the Plymouth Mail Centre shift rotation system, as outlined below with some degree of voluntary flexibility to meet our 24/7 operational needs on occasion, including voluntary overtime coverage and occasional shift pattern flexibility.
This role is a Pool position, requiring significant adaptability / flexiblity as you’ll be stepping in for other Technicians during their Annual Leave or Sick leave. Outside of these periods, your standard shift will be the day shift, typically from 07:00 to 15:30, Monday to Friday.
Initially, you will start on the early shift from 07:00 to 15:30. Additionally, you will be scheduled for different shifts (with prior notice) to gain experience with how the other shifts operate.
The role will cover Eariles: 06:45 – 15:15 Lates: 14:45 – 23:15 and Nights: 22:45 – 07:15.
However, this may change soon to meet the operational needs of the mail centre.

The Role
Shift attendance equates to 40 hours per week - Full time.
Responsible for ensuring availability and performance of automation assets through completion of effective maintenance procedures.
Key aspects of the role include:
• Perform maintenance tasks, including preventative, predictive and corrective maintenance
• Performing continuous improvement activities
• Provide effective and efficient support to the Engineering Manager, Maintenance Team Leader and Engineering Team Coaches, completion of end of shift reports, fault logging and data entry
• Identify the root cause of automation breakdowns and prioritize corrective actions to meet operational processing requirements
• Monitor equipment performance and improve automation outputs in collaboration with operational stakeholders
• Identifying and working on Continuous Improvement projects, conception to implementation ownership, for machinery in the Hub/ Mail Centre
• Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team to achieve common goals
About you
As an experienced multi-skilled engineer you’ll be qualified in electrical and mechanical engineering (minimum ONC Electrical Engineering / NVQ Level 3 – or equivalent). Understanding Health & Safety legislation, you’ll have first-hand experience of maintaining automation equipment along with a flexible approach and the ability to communicate complex issues effectively.
You are required to have a full UK driving licence as on occasion you may be asked to travel to other sites.

Salary: £1,051 per annum, plus night shift allowance of ,100 per annum (pro rota), 22.5 days annual leave with bank holidays and a defined contribution pension scheme. A weekend supplement for Saturday ( 1 per attendance) and Sunday ( 02 per attendance) shift attendance is applicable.

You will cover absences and be required to cover various shifts (early, late and night) on an adhoc basis including weekends. Typical shift times: Early shift 06:00 - 15:00 / Lates 13:30 - 22:00 and Nights 21:00 - 07:00. Weekend shifts working all day Saturday 07:00 - 19:00 and Sunday 08:00 - 19:00. When you are not covering a shift you will be on Days 06:00 - 15:00 Monday to Friday. Overtime is available most weeks.

The maintenance of our two championship golf courses, The Melbourne and The Palmerston, requires hard working and dedicated professionals who can contribute to ensuring that our courses provide an exceptional playing experience year-round. As a Green Keeper, you will play a key role in the upkeep and care of the golf courses, ensuring that they meet the highest standards of quality and presentation.
Responsibilities- Perform routine maintenance tasks on the golf courses, including mowing, aeration, and irrigation, under the guidance of the Course Manager.
- Assist in the planning and execution of course maintenance programs, seasonal renovations, and improvements.
- Monitor the health of turf and plants, applying fertilizers and pesticides as necessary in compliance with safety guidelines.
- Maintain and repair course equipment and machinery to ensure optimal functionality.
- Work as part of a team to manage the daily operations of the course, including assisting with maintenance of bunkers, greens, and tee boxes.
- Conduct regular inspections of the course to identify areas needing attention and report findings to the Course Manager.
- Promote a clean and safe working environment for staff and players alike.
- Engage with members and guests to enhance the overall golf experience by providing knowledgeable insights regarding course conditions.
Requirements
- No prior experience as a green keeper is necessary as full training will be provided however, a passion for horticulture, landscaping, or golf is a plus.
- Opportunities for full time apprenticeships and continued CPD training will be provided as part of this role with a reputable college and BIGGA approved courses.
- A keen interest in the principles of turf management and environmental sustainability.
- Willingness to learn and develop skills in course maintenance and landscaping techniques.
