**Your Impact**
Our Engineering teams are vital to the success of our existing and emerging systems platforms. As part of this team, you will be able to develop new products and digital services as well as enhancements to existing ones that deliver on our customers' experience. Most of your time will be spent designing high-quality software solutions to enable digital customer services based on established design standards. You can expect to be the owner and take accountability for the quality of your designs. You will become familiar with the markets we operate in and problems our products and services address. You will learn about the challenges and limitations of the existing systems and demonstrate your creativity and design aptitudes as you contribute to technology and system platforms roadmaps.
Responsibilities include mentoring entry level Hardware and Software Engineering Associates, creating and reviewing commercial and technical requirements, developing architecture and coding in a variety of programming languages for an enterprise product suite which runs on multiple media platforms. Proven technical leadership and self-motivation is required.
**_Here's where you'll demonstrate your proficiencies:_**
- Collaborate with Product Managers and Sales team members to develop commercial and technical requirements for software applications and middleware used to deliver services to electric grid customers
- Lead architecture development with a team of system architects to develop high value solutions which delight customers consistent with the Qualitrol brand
- Create code that meets Qualitrol coding standards, commercial specifications, and is easy to maintain.
- Develop automated test plans for unit and integration tests to ensure that features work per defined use cases
- Ensure that all designs are documented and reviewed
- Use the latest technologies such as code generation, SW containers to reduce implementation time and enhance software portability, AI for data analytics, etc.
- Mentor entry level firmware developers on engineering and company best practices
- Create product using a test-driven design approach
**Qualifications - External**
Skills & Experience
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the following skills and experience:
- Bachelor's Degree / Masters Degree in Computer Science or related field
- 5+ years of professional product development experience
- Clear understanding of software development practices and lifecycles
- Have expertise in the following: C++, C#, C, Java, HTML, CSS, SQL
- Have experience with generic messaging, .NET Framework 3.5 and the latest MS Visual Studio tools
- Strong knowledge of Object Oriented concepts
- Knowledge of database management systems
- Knowledge of service oriented architectures including microservices architecture
- Are an independent and motivated self-starter
- Are visionary with focus on details at the same time
- Work well within teams or individually

Role Overview

  • Align Architecture with the business, priorities and the vision The System Architect defines, evolves, and maintains the architectural runway ensuring the delivery of business value. Collaborating with Product to design a solution which is technically feasible with architectural enablers. Ensure alignment with the Enterprise Architectural vision and ensure the ARTs system is in line with it, as well as ensuring its contribution to the wider TP ICAP Architecture capability.

  • Support DevOps The System Architect supports with the design of a continuous delivery pipeline and DevOps practices, participating in the release governance process by assessing technology impacts for specific releases. Responsible for maintaining architecture and system tools, documentation, and other technical assets.

  • Fostering Built-in Quality Promote system design that creates built-in quality, reusability and manage Non-Functional Requirements (NFRs) for the wider team. As the System Architect you define NFRs and provide guidance for their timely and effective implementation to avoid NFRs building up and impacting the system.

  • Evolve System Design with teams System Architects establish sustainable interactions with sub-teams to gather feedback on architecture design and the realities of implementation to validate or evolve architectural ideas.
