We are seeking a highly experienced and collaborative Senior Systems Architect to join our team, working specifically on challenging delivery opportunities within the secure Defence and National Security sector. You will be integral to the project team, providing day-to-day support to Programme and Project Managers to ensure the successful delivery of required solutions across various work streams, including Main Programme, Live Service, Service Requests, and Requests for Change. You'll work closely with the CAS Solutions Lead to define robust designs aligned with requirements and support our Support Engineers in overcoming delivery and operational challenges.
**Key Responsibilities:**
+ Comprehend complex business and technical requirements, creating and taking responsibility for High-Level Design (HLD) and Low-Level Design (LLD) components for critical solution areas.
+ Produce all relevant design collateral and successfully navigate governance reviews.
+ Be hands-on during the implementation phase, actively troubleshooting technical issues to ensure smooth deployment.
+ Facilitate effective handover of solutions to the service teams, ensuring operational readiness.
+ Provide comprehensive support to the project team in achieving its milestone deliverables and ensure timely project delivery that meets customer expectations.
+ Provide input into reports, when required, to the customer and Project Managers.
**Your Experience & Skills:**
+ Proven experience in designing solutions, including creating HLDs, proposing and integrating technologies from diverse vendors, and producing high-quality technical documentation for both delivery and solution support.
+ Strong Technical Acumen:
+ Extensive hands-on experience in building, securing (including security clamps and kernel driver management), configuring, and supporting Linux environments (RHEL, CentOS, Alma) at an enterprise scale.
+ Proficiency in Ansible and TCL automation for deploying changes, enhancements, and patching.
+ Solid shell scripting experience.
+ Strong understanding of networking and IP packet structure.
+ Experience with Endace technology (including Open Source SNORT), its design, build, and deployment.
+ Experience with CoreLight and web-site development using Apache, MySQL, and PHP.
+ Solid comprehension of the end-to-end project lifecycle, including governance gates, from initial customer business and commercial issues and requirements gathering through to handover to service.
+ Extensive experience in the architecture, design, and delivery of infrastructure solutions for network monitoring tools, leveraging both open-source and proprietary products.
+ You take ownership and responsibility, make quick decisions, and are a collaborative team player.
+ Able to communicate calmly and concisely with multiple stakeholders and are willing to share knowledge within the team.

Job description - the role
Purpose of the role:
On behalf of our client we are looking for a Security Cleared IT Systems Architect to design and deliver resilient, high-performance IT/OT systems that power our global portfolio of Engine Test Facilities. This role focuses on designing resilient, high-performance systems that can manage the huge data demands of engine trials.
What you'll do:- Design and oversee IT/OT architectures that enable large-scale engine testing, integrating Cisco, VMware, and Active Directory.
- Develop systems capable of processing and storing massive data volumes with robust backup and recovery.
- Work closely with IT Systems Engineers, as well as electronic and mechanical engineers, to define end-to-end system requirements.
- Lead the migration of Legacy systems into scalable, modern DevOps environments.
- Build specialist test networks that balance resilience, cybersecurity, and performance.
- Ensure designs align with the Client IT and cybersecurity standards.
The skills you'll need:
- Proven experience in system design, integration, and testing in high-data and regulated environments (aerospace, defence, finance, or similar).
- Strong knowledge of Cisco networking, VMware, and Active Directory.
- Experience integrating OT and IT systems in complex environments.
- Background in cybersecurity frameworks and data resilience strategies.
- Hands-on experience with DevOps, Agile, and modernisation of Legacy platforms.
